Historia
France's iconic queen, Marie Antoinette, wrongly accused of uttering the infamous "Let them eat cake", was alternately revered and reviled during her lifetime. For centuries since, she has been the object of debate, speculation, and the fascination so often accorded illustrious figures in history. Married in mere girlhood, this essentially lighthearted child was thrust onto the royal stage and commanded by circumstance to play a significant role in European history.

Bravura performance
Revisado: 12-14-21
Rosamund Pike's ability to create such a wide collection of unique character voices was a joy to listen to. I am so glad she did this, as I could not bear listening to the previous narrator. I am hooked on the series now, so I hope she narrates more.

What will the future hold for those who are left? Koli has come a long way since being exiled from his small village of Mythen Rood. In his search for the fabled tech of the Old Times, he knew he'd be battling shunned men, strange beasts and trees that move as fast as whips. But he has already encountered so much more than he bargained for. Now that Koli and his companions have found the source of the signal they've been following - the mysterious "Sword of Albion" - there is hope that their perilous journey will finally be worth something.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Historia
In our unique genomes, every one of us carries the story of our species - births, deaths, disease, war, famine, migration, and a lot of sex. But those stories have always been locked away - until now. Who are our ancestors? Where did they come from? Geneticists have suddenly become historians, and the hard evidence in our DNA has completely upended what we thought we knew about ourselves. Acclaimed science writer Adam Rutherford explains exactly how genomics is completely rewriting the human story - from 100,000 years ago to the present.

I became so engrossed that I couldn't stop listening. Rutherford's narration is thrilling. I couldn't help going along for the ride through time. My favorite parts though were his witty debunking of crazy ideas parading as science and looney news headlines without any facts. Bravo!

Minimalism Sucks: Ignore the Zealots and Learn a Dogma Free Way to De-Clutter Your Life

Historia
Let's start your minimalism to de-clutter your life and be happier; dogma-free and with the pure essentials only. Did you know that you can apply minimalism to books too? It is harder for the author to write those, but much easier for you, the listener, to learn and use the essentials directly without wading through content and getting lost - getting lost means you will not take action. And taking action is THE crucial step you need to do.

Practical and sane
Revisado: 11-04-19
No-nonsense advice about lessening your possessions without unnecessary stress. I really liked the hints about how to train your children to be tidy and let go of things they no longer really want. I found these hints might work when encouraging aging parents to declutter as well. Since it's short, the book doesn't get bogged down and is easy to focus on.

Be prepared for sudden, unexpected guffaws
Revisado: 10-19-19
Warning: listening to this book can cause loud eruptions of laughter with absolutely no warning. Either listen in private, be prepared to cover your mouth to avoid spewing beverages, or share with friends. Reminiscent of 1930s gangsters vs hard-boiled private eyes, the story has plenty of nostalgic suspense, but with the goofy humor that is uniquely Christopher Moore. A little bit Raymond Chandler, a little bit Dash Hammet, with a lot of wisecracks. I think Moore himself summed it up best as a mixture of Damon Runyon and Bugs Bunny. Johhny Hellerj's narration is the perfect match.

A Brilliant and Unflinchingly Honest Self Portrait
Revisado: 10-19-19
Elton John's extraordinary look back at his life is no mere show biz tell-all. From the earliest days of his childhood, he leads us through every joy, heartache, and major screw up, without blame or self-pity. Full of both grit and love, the book is wonderfully well written, and the talented Taron Egerton portrays John with all the frenetic energy and emotional ups and downs that he exhibited so well on film. I couldn't stop listening, it was so good.
