Even if you don't take an antidepressant, antianxiety or antipyschotic drug, you probably know someone who does. That is how widespread their use has become. Thus, the information in this book is essential. The truth is beginning to come out - this book is another important additon. It is comprehensive - so that if you haven't already read or heard about the problem, it is all presented here. And if you have heard about it, read it anyway because it contains important history, statistics, research and names. You won't be disappointed and it may change your life or the life of someone you care about.

A Masterpiece

Once again Greene creates vivid characters who the reader feels sure actually exist. This may be among his best, I say may be only because I still have a few more to read!!! Bravo.

If only author's would realize that when we are reading something about science, we aren't interested in their political view points. It can and often does offend about half of the listening audience. I didn't purchase this book to be told that someone's political opinion shows their low IQ for examle. I know people of both political persuasions and know them to be very intellegent. Therefore my belief in the author's overall assumtions are called into question. See how that happens? Stick to the subject. Write another book if you want to pontificate on the pros and cons of other issues, and give it a different name. Very dissapointed. The author was crafty enough to wait until the end on the book to insert these insults - potential readers be warned.

Interesting but long winded.

Best part is author's use of novels for evidence, such as Conrad and Naipaul. This was most helpful in driving home major ideas.

Not just about the affair!!

Graham Greene - takes you with him - seeing and feeling well developed characters and experiencing their interactions. This enhances the plot in Greene's unique way. The affair takes a back seat as the story unfolds.
Colin Firth is fantastic!

Recommend to anyone who likes ideas that stretch the limits of comprehension. That is not to say that his wording is difficult nor that the narrator isn't very good - only that the subject matter is outside of what we "see" in our workaday world. Anyone who likes to read about physics, particularly quantum physics has more or less gotten used to this feeling. And if you have never read a non fiction mind stretcher - this might be a good one to try. Facts can indeed be stranger than fiction!

Roach has the ability to make learning about corpses fun - would recommend reading - and confirming donor status on drivers licsense.
Frasier is the perfect narrator - her intonations fit well.
