I have two grade school homeschoolers who are different ages (and a toddler and a baby). There are days that are just too much. While I don’t have administration breathing down my back—I do have to keep track of important paperwork for my kids.

There are days that I cannot even think well, get frazzled, and of course have to deal with different moods and tantrums throughout the day. This book was a great reminder to take care of yourself first then do what is important.

While my experience is not like those in the book—I am still a teacher regardless and still struggle with “trying to do it all” (household management, child rearing, cooking, Doctor appointments, etc).

This is read that I would listen again and again.

I know, how does this have anything to do with relationships? This book opens up about the interactions that we have on a day to day basis. Why our kids don't open up. Why probing doesn't work.

It's not about getting people to do what you want, but about understanding them better.

I'll admit, I had this audible for years, but it made more sense for me now that I have kids. Everyone has different ways to communicate but with one goal--to be understood. To be listened to. Not to be talked over, but to be listened to with empathy (without an agenda), but just to better understand the person.

I will find myself listening to this book again, over and over as the years pile on.

This is such a valuable book, that you find yourself listening to it again and again.

Michael Pollen has asked and documented questions that I believe most Americans ask themselves every day "What should I eat."
He takes us through more than one food chain, and how each one not only affects the land that is used, but how it affects us, the consumers.

Its great to listen to writer who has documented this issue though his own personal experience. Pollan is not preaching nor is he telling his readers what they should eat; instead, Pollan allows the readers to make their own decisions about the food that's on their plate.
Scott Brick was also the perfect narrator for this book; his voice has really brought the book to life. Anyone who is interested in the food that goes on our plate really should purchase and listen to this book.

After listening to this book for hours, I really can't bring myself to get past the reader. The story line overall seems very interesting, however, this is one of those books that I am going to have to actually read in order to enjoy.
