Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up.

I was caught from the first word by the spellbinding narration, and then the story itself kicked in. I have read it twice now (4 years in between I think) and I was just as captivated the second time!

Historia
In 2009, Mark R. Levin galvanized conservatives with his unforgettable manifesto Liberty and Tyranny, by providing a philosophical, historical, and practical framework for halting the liberal assault on Constitution-based values. That book was about standing at the precipice of progressivism’s threat to our freedom, and now, over a decade later, we’re fully over that precipice and paying the price. In American Marxism, Levin explains how the core elements of Marxist ideology are now pervasive in American society and culture.

TAKE NOTES ON THE LAST CHAPTER!
Revisado: 07-21-23
As I am a conservative of long-standing and an ardent follower of current events via many different media, so much of this book was preaching to the choir so to speak. Therefore, I grew impatient with it a bit more than halfway through. However, much of this information would be welcome to many who are not such ardent followers, I am sure.
The very last chapter however, and in fact the last half of the last chapter, does not only recite the Un-American horrors present in our society today and indeed desirous of its complete overthrow, but gives many valuable ideas and practical resources for fighting back! I sincerely hope that every patriotic American will purchase and read this book, if for no other reason than to get to the last chapter which tells us exactly what we can do! Our local Patriots group will form a committee to do just that and as we are already acting on many of these ideas, we will see what more we can do!
I WAS SURPRISED THAT HE DID NOT MENTION THE LAST AND BEST SOLUTION TO THE ILLS OF THIS NATION, THE CONVENTION OF STATES. Levin has long been a proponent of an Article V Convention of States and he knows that it is the only permanent solution to the woes of America. We propose to use the Constitution to save the constitution, and therefore to save our Republic! it is necessary to have 34 states, that is 2/3 of the states, to call for a Convention of states. right now, 19 states have signed on and presented their petitions to the Congress of the United States. we need 15 more! Will you stand up and get this passed in your state so that we can save our Republic and indeed your very state? Log on to C.O.S.
action to find out if your state is one of the petitioners, or if you need to get to work right now!
SHOW UP, SPEAK UP, STAND UP, AMERICA!

Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

A little deep for me
Revisado: 07-20-23
Beautifully and enchantingly performed by the author, but achingly tragic. His voice kept me going though. I did so appreciate the glimpses into the daily lives of Christians in India and the brief history of how they came to be there in a church founded by St. Thomas. However, this book is not about that.
My personal preference is a book filled with action with some character development and even a little introspection where pertinent - let's say I am a James Patterson or even a Tom Clancy kind of girl rather than a Patricia Cornwell type. nevertheless, the book was well worth reading and I waited through the heavy parts to the sound of that wonderful voice.

Struggled to finish. I hope there really were good times like this in Nazi occupied France. The narrator's bright and breezy style just didn't seem to fit with the horrors in WWII Europe.

Historia
Cody Hoyt, while a brilliant cop, is an alcoholic struggling with two months of sobriety when his mentor and AA sponsor Hank Winters is found burned to death in a remote mountain cabin. At first it looks like the suicide of a man who's fallen off the wagon, but Cody knows Hank better than that. Sober for fourteen years, Hank took pride in his hard-won sobriety and never hesitated to drop whatever he was doing to talk Cody off a ledge. When Cody takes a closer look at the scene of his friend's death, it becomes apparent that foul play is at hand.
