The Challenge is the second book in Kristin Coley's Pack series and I freaking loved it. This book was even better than the first and this audiobook had duo narration.

The plot was fantastic. There's a new character, he was quite the surprise, and totally adorable and became a major character in the story which was totally unexpected. Speaking of unexpected there were a few new characters and Trent has more of a role in this one. I like the lone wolf and I hope he can somehow join the pack. Things with the Hanleys are, of course, a mess but the Navvare pack is dealing with its own issues. I did enjoy getting to see more of the pack and how they work.

The Challenge was excellent! Coley has created a complex shifter world. There were lots of twists and turns and nothing is for certain, the pack is on a knife’s edge and I don't know how things are gonna fall. The book ended with an unexpected question and a shocking revelation, I don't know what's coming next but I'll be there.

I liked Jess. She's smart, she put things together quickly but purposely lived in denial as long as she could. She was pretty accepting of things which I enjoyed. Jess also had sass for days, especially for a certain shifter. Dominic Navarre is gruff but he's a good guy, a protector. My favorite moments were when he let down some of his walls when he was with Jess.

The plot was. There's a student/teacher relationship, secrets, a feud, and danger. The romance was sweet, seeing Jess and Dom try to resist but slowly circling each other, growing closer. There are dark themes in this book along with a few pulse-pounding scenes. There were a couple of weird plot moments that didn't make sense, as in the decision to go that route wasn't believable but it didn't affect my feelings about the book too much.

I enjoyed The Pack, Beth Roeg did a great job narrating. I'll be continuing on to the next book, The Challenge.

I love anything that combines the Mafia with the supernatural so when Heather Hildenbrand released the first book in the Mafia Pack there was no question that I was gonna snatch that up. I'm so glad that I did, Dark Wolf Soul was a delectable dark read with complex characters and an exciting plot. Once again Savannah Rivers does an excellent job of narrating.

Annie Anderson's The Wrong Witch series concludes with Errors and Exorcisms. This book was fantastic, the southern snark, true love, and humor drew me in but the absolute chaos is what kept me hooked.

Wren walked out of the faerie realm right into an Apocalypse Now situation. It was totally unexpected, businesses are closed, people are gone, and fire is everywhere, and is only part of what's wrong in Savannah. This book is darker, Wren and her people go through a lot and are running around trying to fix everything. Things go wrong but at least this crazy makeshift family is back together. Trying to heal not only each other but Savannah.

Errors and Exorcisms was a superb conclusion to the series. Lance Greenfield and Celeste Woodward did a fantastic job bringing Wren and Nico to life. A lot was revealed, so I got answers to the questions I'd been asking (most of them centered on Wren) and I loved the ending. This was my first series by Annie but won't be the last.

Nico and Ren are great! Once again the narrators have done an excellent job.

Oh, this story had a few surprises. Just when I think that the Bannisters can get any lower they decide to dig to Hell. Something gets revealed that I didn't expect, I didn't think they could be that evil but I was wrong. Of course, they are causing all sorts of problems but they aren't the only ones. Ren's bad luck with people seemed to continue, there was a battle scene that shocked me to my core. I couldn't believe it. Ren and Nico are getting it from all angles but they have Ren's newfound friends backing them up. Ren really found a group of girls she could count on and they, along with El and Alice have become her true family.

Holy Crap! What an ending, talk about plot twist. It was complete madness. A big secret comes out and things are finally explained about Ren and her... quirks. The story has taken an unexpected turn, it's a whole new ballgame now. Magic and Mayhem was mind-blowing, now I can't wait to see how it all ends in Errors and Exorcisms, the final book in The Wrong Witch series.

Heather Hildenbrand and Jessica Wayne are a fantastic writing duo. The Mated by Midnight series is a spicy paranormal romance that is filled with magic, steeped with mystery, and has touches of horror. The plot was kept me on my toes, I couldn't wait to see how it all turned out.

Serenity wants to be an investigative journalist and after a series of unfortunate events (one cringe moment with her boss) in NYC she picks up a story about a ritual killing in a small town. I gotta give it to her, Serenity is a stubborn one, when a friendly face isn't to be found she doesn't let that stop her. She digs in determined to figure out what's going on. I liked Serenity. I like that she's close to her big family and her determination to help. Her best quality is her snarky commentary , it was great but at times I wanted to shake her. She has her lapse in judgment and doesn't really understand but she means well.

Sutton is a mystery at first but I soon realize that a lot is on his shoulders. While he has suffered a great deal, the man is still caring, protective, and tries to do his best for the town. Sutton Hargrave is sin on two legs. It's not just attraction between him and Ser, Sutton loves her, respects her, and is willing to protect her against anything, and that got tested a lot but Sutton and Serenity face everything together. He's most definitely added to the book boyfriend list.

Mated by Midnight was a fantastic series. Savannah Rivers did an excellent job bringing the story to life. There was mostly definitely a horror movie vibes with witches, curses, specters, zombies, and tons of murder, just to name a few things. I never knew where the serial killer was gonna strike next. I love the Autumn (my favorite season) feel of the series. Not gonna lie things got real sketchy at the end and my eyes were tearing up but Jess and Heather pulled through with an epilogue that made my heart happy. I highly suggest this series.

Heather Hildenbrand wraps up the Fated Consorts series with the third book Goddess Forging. Shout out to Kelly Prunner for narrating, she has once again done an excellent job bringing Heather's story to life.

Elodie "El" has changed a lot over the series. In this book not only has El gotten more confident in her goddess powers but she's taking a leading role, coming up with plans, and making the hard decisions.

Through everything El has had the support of her best friend Becca who is one heck of a war goddess, a few others, and ultimately her guys. Helix and Cole are just as protective as they were before but there's a whole lot more loving going on. Also, Grim has joined the group and is just adorable no matter what state he's in. Grim is a favorite, he always manages to bring a smile to my face. El's too apparently because El's and Grim's relationship has solidified in this one.

I finally got the confirmation I've been waiting for. El's dad is revealed and it's a crap chute. He lives up to his reputation and not in a good way, such a disappointment. Vada is still on the warpath but her ego isn't doing her any favors. Although I will admit Vada is a powerhouse and it's been hard keeping her at bay. With a force of gods and goddesses behind her, it turns into an all-out war. There are new allies and more enemies, and Zeus finally makes an appearance, think Thor at the end of Thor Ragnarok. There was realm hopping, skirmishes, secrets, magic, and the best friendships.

Goddess Forging was the perfect ending to El's story. The good guys won a bloody battle people were lost and reunited but El pulled it off by becoming the Goddess she was meant to be. The future of the gods, goddesses, ascending, and guardians have never looked brighter.

Why didn't anyone tell me I'd been missing out? Spells and Slip-ups is my first Annie Anderson book and it was a freaking hoot. Seriously, I listened to the audio version and I've never laughed so hard, the narrators did a fantastic job bringing Ren and Acosta to life.

I'm 100% sure that Ren's catastrophes aren't her fault. Born under a bad sign my foot, if she was then it was the universe's fault. I'm telling you that bougie family of hers did something to someone and Ren is the consequence. For people who put power over everything, name and bloodlines being the measure they sure left one of their own flapping in the wind. The best thing about the camp that Ren is sent to is that she may have finally found her people in the arcane world. There were plenty of feel-good moments.

Spells and Slip-ups were the best, I loved the mystery and comradery. The dialog is fantastic the snarky fast-paced southern twang was great, but it's Ren's inner monolog that is hilarious and makes the book. Celeste Woodward and Lance Greenfield did an excellent job bringing the characters to life. I can't wait for the next book.

Fated Consorts continues with the second book in the series, Goddess Claiming. Heather has done a great job continuing Elodie's story. The story just keeps getting better and better.

The plot was great, new gods are introduced, some enemies while others are friends. Becca was one of those friends, the ascending war goddess was quite the character and becomes a great friend to Elodie who is gonna need all the friends and allies she can get. The egher guardians are a bunch of stuff old men who are stuck in their ways and have it out for our girl. Elodie is starting to realize that there are a lot of things wrong with the guardians and problems in general in the god world. Veda is becoming more of a threat and secrets about just how dangerous she is revealed. But Elodie can handle her, with Irena healing and Elodie finally figuring out her goddess powers she is gonna give Veda a run for her money.

I love listening to the audio, Kelly Pruner continues to do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. Goddess Claiming was absolutely fantastic. There's always a lot of action with Elodie and the guys but this book also brought a lot of political intrigue, a nice amount of steam, and glorious magic. The story ended on a cliffhanger that not only made my heartache but had me raging. Elodie's story concludes in the third book, Goddess Forging. I for one can't wait for Elodie to show them exactly what kind of Goddess she is.

The Cupcake Witch is the second book in the Chancellor Fairytales by Melanie Karsak, narrated by Hollie Jackson. This is a sweet romance with hints of magical realism, set in a small charming town that has a history of witches.

Mostly I read paranormal books but I'll take anything with magic so no surprise I like magical realism. It's more about magic blending in with everyday life, the possibility of magic having small influences is what draws me to the genre. Cupcake Witch finds a young woman opening a bakeshop/teahouse so it's combining magic and baking are two of my keywords. I love it when magic and food combine, the food descriptions were great and how the magic worked was interesting and seemed more memory based.

The simple but impactful magic was lovely, I liked that hits of all these magical people and situations pop up everywhere, everything hinting at something but not quite saying what's going on although it's obvious. There was a sweet budding romance, family drama, and a young baker discovering who she is. It truly felt like a modern fairytale.
