This has been one of the best romances I've read in a while. Although, it was a high school bully type of romance, the themes were universal, about loving someone when they're being beautiful but also loving them when they're insecure and ugly. That's all I'm going to say. I'm definitely purchasing the digital book to read again in the future. Enjoy!

I felt bad for Cole/Meg was a bad wife

SPOILER ALERT
So, a lot of husbands behave like Cole, the main male character, they don't help with kids and house chores, leaving Meg, the main female character, overwhelmed and under appreciated. Still, it doesn't mean you step out on your husband. I wish the author would've built up her story better. Throughout, the story she doesn't communicate nor explain the issues to her husband. She up and leaves with no real explanation only to find out from his father-in-law that she's left him. While the whole time he's a great guy who, despite Meg's poor treatment of him, tries his hardest to keep his family together. He changes for her. It's a good story about forgiveness but also, too one-sided, making Meg seem like the bad guy, which I'm sure isn't the author's intention (or maybe it is). Not my cup of tea but a good story about forgiveness. He doesn't seem real and she has no real explanation of her story. Enjoy.

If you like a heroine that is tragic and perfect then this is for you. I like my heroines to have imperfections as this is closer to reality. The male narrator was perfect as I could imagine him as a 5 star New York successful club owner. Her voice, however, sounds older and didn't quite fit a young innocent heroine. I hate that I'm not the type of person that can put the book down until I'm done. Not that I haven't but I gave this one a chance and it failed, for me. Lots of other people liked it so it might be for you.

Good book but needs a different narrator

Good story, however, the narrator sounds like a 1950's housewife and her potty mouth doesn't for her voice. It's like watching Leave It To Beaver's mom say "fucking" or "bitch", it just doesn't fit. Unfortunately, she is the same narrator in the next book, ugh!

Not terrible, not great

Not terrible, not great, it's hard to believe that 35 year old hot, muscled mercenary Rafe is still a virgin, even if the author gives you a bizarre reason.

I’m so glad I read last breath first

Last Hit wasn’t bad but I don’t think I would’ve wanted to read Last Breath (book 2) after reading book 1. Book 1 was a good story but it didn’t make my heart melt like book 2 did. I loved Nick but I couldn’t connect with Daisy’s character. She’s never been exposed to the world but she is hornier than a drunk frat boy! That was kind of a turn off. Nick was always so gentle and sweet with her and put her needs first. Sadly, Daisy didn’t reciprocate putting his needs first. The poor guy wanted to sleep due to exhaustion and all she wanted to do was have sex. Of coarse he loves her and sacrifices his lack of sleep to give her what she wants. I mean they could have morning sex, right? It just didn’t jive with her character, in my opinion. If you feel like me, trust me, push on to book 2, it was sooooo good! I fell in love with Daniel and Reagan

I’m in love with Daniel

Omg! Daniel is everything!
Alpha, patient protector to a traumatized Reagan and hot as hades but also a badass killer on a mission to find his kidnapped autistic sister. And Reagan is as brave as she is traumatized by cruel sex slave traders. My heart melted over and over during the sex scenes where Reagan wasn’t sure she could ever have sex again, Daniel was so patient, kind and thoughtful with her and the way he loves her with such sweetness and tries to make her laugh and can recognize when she’s feeling uncomfortable all while dodging bad guys and bullets makes Daniel every woman’s fantasy. This story definitely deals with dark subject matter but Daniel isn’t an alpha that treats women like garbage, he is the knight in tattered armor who finds the love of his life while saving abused women. This is a MUST READ!

If you’re a military wife or girlfriend, you’ll appreciate this story in a way only we can, because it’s personal. I love how the author captures the reality of being separated from each other for long periods of time at the beginning of their relationship and having the added fear of the unknown that your loved one might get hurt in a foreign country. I completely related to all the “I love yous” Slade and Austyn exchanged before Slade’s deployment. It’s true that you just can’t say it enough and truly convey the meaning of those words. It was sweet and real although the reality is so much harder. This book definitely sparked warm and difficult memories of my Marine and myself 24 years ago!

It feels like deja vu, like I’ve read this before. I didn’t finish it. I really tried but it felt like I was re-reading a so so love story. This is a good story for someone else, not me. They didn’t even make sense, they were too different with different goals. Mr. rich ex-quarterback always gets what he wants and he’ll get the girl. There’s no kind of angst that feels real.

This love doesn't make sense

Total

Revisado: 12-11-19

This romance isn't for me. Rion says it best, I don't know what I do for Jude but he loves me. She's too weird for a normal guy like Jude and I also don't understand Jude's attraction to Rion except that they have the same trauma in common but even that doesn't make sense to me. I wish I had it in me to stop reading a book once I realize I don't like it but hope springs eternal and I'm always hoping that the ending will make the story better or at least that the story will make sense. Not this one, LOL! Read but be warned.
