Historia
A poacher is at work in Sinful, Louisiana, and Deputy Carter LeBlanc is hot on the trail of the outlaw, trying to apprehend him before the state gets wind of the crime and sends a game warden to take over his investigation. Unfortunately, he's hindered every step of the way by Sinful's current mayor and all-around horrible person, Celia Arceneaux, who wants nothing more than to drive Carter to resign. When a game warden turns up with evidence that implicates a relative of Gertie's, Carter is left with no choice but to arrest the boy, even though no one thinks he did it.

Another entertaining romp
Revisado: 09-24-23
The relationship among the female characters drew me in. Love the old women and the brash young heroine. While the plot line is totally improbable it is most entertaining.

Another romantic mystery
Revisado: 09-23-23
Loved the first book in the series. This mystery gets lost in the ridiculous descriptions of perfect men who cook and are intrigued by the lovely widow who again finds herself accused a murder. I am tired of mysteries in which women have to have romantic adventures. Seems the murders should be enough. Even well plotted mystery stories seem to have to insert some sort of formulaic romantic adventure that distracts from the main story.

Her strict itinerary is upended completely by the pup’s dogged devotion, and soon the lovable puppy helps her to connect with a tight-knit community of new friends.

Cheesy Romance
Revisado: 05-24-23
Interesting story ruined by a stupid romance. Loved the dogs , but was irritated by heroine and her romantic interest with perfect features. Never was convinced that either were capable of looking below the surface. Love books about dogs, but this was big disappointment

The internal monologues become tedious. Wish the characters had talked to one another rather than tryin to read each others minds.

Her Sister. Her Sister
Revisado: 03-20-23
The constant reminder that the victim is the detective’s sister detracts from the story. I’m sure it is to elicit empathy for the sister, but it is repetitious and detracts from an otherwise rather good story.

Historia
Wildly successful when it was first published in 1955, Patrick Dennis' Auntie Mame sold over two million copies and stayed put on the New York Times bestseller list for 112 weeks. It was made into a play, a Broadway as well as a Hollywood musical, and a fabulous movie starring Rosalind Russell. Since then, Mame has taken her rightful place in the pantheon of Great and Important People as the world's most beloved, madcap, devastatingly sophisticated, and glamorous aunt.

As usual. Book even better than the movie
Revisado: 09-11-22
Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell is one of my favorite movies, but I had never read the book. Came across a mention of it in The New York Times and decided to give it a try. The book evoked scenes from the movie that I loved thinking about again. The book took me much deeper into the comedy and the pathos. Much of which I had missed in the movie. It is as fresh, funny, and insightful today as it was when it was written. A wonderful and fulfilling way to spend a few hours,

Too much hash tag
Revisado: 09-07-22
Liked the premise, but disliked the constant insertion of hash tags. Distracted from the story and was irritating. There was more marketing, social media and romance than mystery.

Historia
Aggie Malone is a dedicated young cop who has spent her entire life just looking for a place to call home. She never thought she'd find it in a quaint Florida village called Dogleg Island, where almost nothing ever happens. Deputy Ryan Grady is an easygoing playboy who carries a surf board in the trunk of his patrol car and lives in the same rambling beach cottage his grandfather built 70 years ago. He grew up on Dogleg Island and can't imagine ever living anywhere else. It's always been the most peaceful place he has ever known.

Melodramatic Romance
Revisado: 03-02-22
I wanted to read a mystery, but found myself in the middle of a wordy melodramatic romance during a hurricane. Think it is fine for those who like Hallmark romances, but the mystery got lost in all the confusion of traumatic brain injury and the dubious thoughts of an unbelievable dog. Should not be categorized as a mystery as that is the weakest of the stories.

Disappointing
Revisado: 10-30-21
Corruption and disillusionment are the point of this depressing story. Not what I had hoped for from a favorite author. Skip this one.
