Historia
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Burnout is real, but success is not impossible.
Revisado: 10-15-19
I struggled to get past the victim mentality behind this book. Yes, burnout is a real problem and exists in many different forms - however the attitude of defeatism just sours the whole story.

Historia
In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

Absolutely Beautiful
Revisado: 09-07-18
I couldn't help but cry multiple times as I listened to this woman speak about God's true nature. This little book sheds a new light on how heterosexual Christians can better love and understand and witness the love of Jesus Christ to the gay community. Saturated in scripture, the love of God, and the love for same sex attracted men and women, my eyes have been opened to how much I did not understand - though this book is a Christian woman's testimony, I almost felt like I could fill in the blanks with multiple aspects of sin that I struggle with in my daily life. This book points directly at who Jesus is, how much He loves us. and how incredibly difficult yet, overwhelmingly joyous choosing to follow Him can be. Thank you Jesus.

Historia
In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon. Their blissful reunion is shattered when she touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone ruins and is instantly transported to a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans—in 1743. Will Claire find her way back to her own time, or is her destiny forever linked with Clan MacKenzie and the gallant James Fraser?

Repetitive and predictable.
Revisado: 02-16-18
The story begins interestingly enough with the sudden twist of Claire being thrown back in time - however the same problem/resolution scenario repeats multiple times. Clair gets into trouble, Jamie injures himself/sacrifices himself to save her, Claire gets freed, then tries to save Jamie. They fight, then have sex. Repeat until end of book. Toss in some very graphic sexual abuse, and bam! you have Outlander. I was very disapointed.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Judas Coyne is a collector of the macabre. But nothing he possesses is as unlikely or as dreadful as his latest discovery, a thing so terrible-strange, Jude can't help but reach for his wallet. But what UPS delivers to his door in a black heart-shaped box is no imaginary or metaphorical ghost. It's the real thing.

Well done but distracting.
Revisado: 02-01-18
A short listen, with a good story and a few goosebumpy moments. However, there was music played as interlude between chapters and during parts of the reading. It was very distracting and took a lot of the scare out of the story. If it was re-read without the music, it would be 10x better.

Historia
To everyone who knows them, best friends Miel and Sam are as strange as they are inseparable. Roses grow out of Miel's wrist, and rumors say that she spilled out of a water tower when she was five. Sam is known for the moons he paints and hangs in the trees and for how little anyone knows about his life before he and his mother moved to town. But as odd as everyone considers Miel and Sam, even they stay away from the Bonner girls, four beautiful sisters rumored to be witches.

Controversial
Revisado: 06-28-17
This story was crafted very beautifully with mixtures of both Spanish and Iranian cultures and their stories and myths sprinked throughout the book. The author uses many sensory descriptions like color, scent, and taste to help the reader connect to the characters in a more personal way. The way the book is written is beautiful, however it does explore the controversial topic of gender and transgender issues. For those who are heavily leaning towards one side or the other, this book may introduce ideas and feelings about transgenderism that push against the traditional ideologies of gender and gender roles. The voice actors do a great job, and keep the reader engaged even to the very end of the book.
