Historia
Attraction, desire and sex were not proper subjects for a 19th-century novel, and Charlotte Brontë's clear and open handling of all three in Jane Eyre was shocking, exciting and revolutionary. Jane Eyre - a small, plain-faced, intelligent and honest English orphan - is abused by her aunt and cousins as a child; acquires role models during her education at Lowood Academy; and becomes the governess of Thornfield Manor, where she falls in love with her Byronic employer, Edward Rochester.

A beautifully read classic
Revisado: 09-19-17
Emily woof is the perfect narrator having a young woman's voice appropriate to that of Jane Eyre in her late teens and early 20's . What more can be said about the story line and the characters after almost 2 centuries of comment and discussion. Ive finally read one of the classics as an older man and it's lived up to its mythic status . I hope younger readers and listeners will have the perseverance to read or listen to this book Written at a time when people had much more time to relax and enjoy reading.

Historia
It is hard to top the pleasure of a woodland walk in Spring unless of course you have a lyric poet as your guide. Now that is possible with Poets of Nature. Let Walt Whitman, John Keats, Emily Dickinson, Henry David Thoreau, Emily Bronte, and Ralph Waldo Emerson take you into that realm of Nature "where we seldom wander".

A great shame that the chapter list does not state the poem being read, the poet or the narrator

Historia
The most acclaimed Scottish novel of all time, Sunset Song is a powerful portrait of a land and people in turmoil, seen through the life and struggles of its heroine, Chris Guthrie. In the years up to and beyond the First World War, Chris' resilience, like the land itself, endures despite everything and is portrayed with a lyrical intensity that echoes through the years and still resonates today.
