Historia
Prodigal Summer weaves together three stories of human love within a larger tapestry of lives in southern Appalachia. At the heart of these intertwined narratives is a den of coyotes that have recently migrated into the region. Deanna Wolfe, a reclusive wildlife biologist, watches them from an isolated mountain cabin where she is caught off-guard by Eddie Bondo, a young hunter who comes to invade her most private spaces and her solitary life.

Prodigal Summer a Favorite
Revisado: 04-12-24
I loved this book - the story, the detailed descriptions, the characters. I love Kingsolver’s sensitivity to the natural world, and the way she writes.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Great Story, Not Great Narration
Revisado: 04-02-23
I really enjoyed the story and the writing, but did not care for the narrator’s voice at all. For me, her voices were not believable, and they detracted from the characters.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Glad I read it but would not read again
Revisado: 03-16-23
This was a very interesting glimpse into women pioneers in the field of science and into the minds and life choices of the super intelligent. The human aspects of this story were also very moving.

Historia
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Very Insightful Story
Revisado: 03-16-23
I really enjoyed understanding life from the perspective of game designers and others with brilliant, analytical minds who suffer interpersonally because of it. Very interesting and smartly written!

Feels Exploitative

This book feels like a smart person using something that is painful for many in order to sell books. Did not feel genuine or honest.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.
