Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Intense, complex, amazing
Revisado: 09-03-21
First off, english is not my main language, so please forgive any misspelling in this review. And even though there are quite hard terms and some very fast though processes throughout the audiobook, it's just so expertly narrated that I barely had to pause.
Wil Wheaton did an amazing job narrating this audiobook, His voice, tone and dramatizations are on point. I tend to listen to a audiobook whiele I'm doing something else. And a lot of times my mind just fully focused on the audiobook, with me at the edge of my seat listening closely, devouring every word.
The book is in a whole other level than the movie, and this audiobook brings that to life, there is not much more for me to do other than to keep stroking the ego of both writer and narrator. The pacing is on point, unlike the movie you actually feel get to understand why is everything happening. It's just too good.
This is a must if you're into sci-fi.

Historia
When Marcella Leones relocates her family of aswang vampires from the Philippines to Portland, Oregon, she raises her grandchildren under strict rules so humans will not expose them. Her only wish is to give them a peaceful life, far away from the hunters and the Filipino government that attempted to exterminate them. Before she dies, she passes on the power to her eldest grandchild, Percival. He vows to uphold the rules set forth by Leones, allowing his family to roam freely without notice. After all, they are aswangs.

Took me while to get to like this book.
Revisado: 04-19-21
First off, english is not my main language, so please forgive any misspelling in this review. The story of the book is at most good. It's slowpaced so i haven't found a need to stop to understand anything, other than the odd cultural-philipino word. The premisse of the book is interesting, but could be so much more.
Portland is aparently a small town where a lot of creepy/wierd people gather around. And a good part of it's community is supernatural. Ranging from werebeasts to vampires, not your basic overpowered vampire, a more humanized and mortal form that's trying to actively be part of a human society using little to no powers (that's apperently true for the entire supernatural community). Is it a good story? Yes, it's slow paced though. So don't expect some ground breaking action or incredbly intricate romance (there is some, that for me, was actually what actually made me enjoy the book).
But I actually had to try to enjoy and to keep listeneing to the Vampires of Portlandia, the story take so long to develop and there is little to no description of places, concept of time and very few character portrait. And even so, it takes over half the book on a worldbuilding, don't get me wrong I liked that. But it's just too slow, six hours into the book and then the actual story starts. Characters show little to no development, the "angst teen" is most of the time extremely calm and thoughtfull. Half way into the book the "covenant is broken", so a war seems about to break. And yet, even the ones that should be most scared of it, seems to be so passive and basically no action is taken. Is it still worth it? Yeah, kinda.
Narration wise, it's what actually kept me going. I believe there could be some more dramatization on the voice acting but that's just personal preference. There were very few times that my immersion was broken by it. I do think the narrition will be the make or break for this book for most people, personally is what kept me going for the first hour because of how wierdly writen is it.
Took me a while to realise, but the slowness of the book could be intentional as to try and place us into the minds of the day to day of the vampires. If it's not, then the book can have an abridged version and that'd make it WAY better. If it is intentional, however, I beleive the lack of personality on most characters took a tool on the story and they could have been fleshed out with a few more details here and there, especially about their feelings (since it does try, but just skim over them).
I digress, I'm not a writer just a listener. The book is good, not great or a masterpiece, there is just something missing. Something that actually kept me anxious to listen to more and more. Same as most of it's cast, the book lacks personality.
Do i still recommend it? Absolutely yes. It's a simple long book. Not for everyone, but I actually enjoyed it.

It's simplistic, but gets the point across.
Revisado: 03-18-21
First off, english is not my main language, so please forgive any misspelling in this review. The book is interesting and fairly good, but sounds simplistic with overly complex topics and word choices. Had to stop a few times to search for a word or two, and to roll back a few seconds.
Narration wise, it's not bad. Mostly bland, but fits the theme of the book.
Basically it repeats several topics and gets the point across that every relationship needs open conversation, trust and you shouldn't search for the 'best' if you can't be at least as good as the type of person that you want.
It tries to cheer up and overly glorify a type of idealistic relationship that everyone CAN have but very few will have both the willpower and maturity to become said "heavenly connection". At the same time the autor tries to dismiss it as a must or something you shouldn't persuit since very few would have the chance to experience it.
It does fail to go in depth on the struggle that is, even with a near perfect relationship, there is some mentioning here and there that "They might fight, but never in public!" or something along those lines.
It's a good listen. A good starting point if you want to persue anything as deep of a relation as it can be. It's pretty suitable for people both in and out of a relationship. But this is by far not a complete guide, it is good though.

It's all about beliefs.
Revisado: 03-18-21
First off, english is not my main language, so please forgive any misspelling in this review. The style of this book actually would force you to re-listen to it if you're actually going to try any of the aformentioned "Magic Spells for Wealth, Prosperity and Money", I won't.
It's a light listen, if you're not into ocult, you might skip it. But there are a few bits on history on the culture of ancient civilazations that are interesting and hard to find elsewhere. I listened to it because of curiosity, even though skeptical I can see people could benefit from the positive thinking that any of the spells would at the very least bring.
"Don't do it if you don't trully believe it, and it might take some time to work." Is one of the most honest lines in there. Since the author probably is aware of people wanting a "miracle solution".
Honestly? I expected less from the narration because of the topic, length and rating. But he does have a great voice.
If you're into the ocult, you might find yourself wanting to do a few, in a sumary they're all: "Don't ask for more than you actually need and don't expect money to just be given to you, expect good results in what you're doing."
So if you believe that these spells or lucky charms would actually benefit you, at least don't expect a miracle.
If you don't, you might learn something interesting historicaly.
tl;dr It's not for me, but it wasn't bad.

The third book of an amazing trilogy.
Revisado: 03-15-21
First off, english is not my main language. And even though, I don't think there was a single time I stopped this series to search for a word. It's context said a lot and I could easily just chill and listen. That being said, please forgive any misspelling on this review.
You do need to listen to the first and books before starting this one, the story is continuous and doesn't re-introduce characters or the world. It assumes you know what's happening, that being said I highly recomend this book if you have listened to the other two.
The series as a whole is amazing, this book is by far the best in them. Basically no plot hanging, with an insanely well writen ending that you'll eighter love or hate, be carefull not to get spoiled with other reviews, it really is a important mark of this book and what makes it so great in my opinion.
Same as both previous books, the chapters are short so it's easy to have a quick listen. Every chapter starts with a subtle "where" and "who" is there. So you don't really have to remember where on a 58 floor building each character is.
By itself the book is amazing, the best of the trillogy, but I'll repeat myself you need the entire trilogy to get from the begining to the end of the story, they're not separate, but they're definitely worth listening even if this book wasn't so great.
It's hard to review the third book of a trilogy without talking about the trilogy itself or spoiling anything so I'll keep it simple.
This is, for me, a must listen to any sci-fi or fantasy fan.
It easily became one of my life time favorite books and the book that concluded a trilogy that made me fall in love with audiobooks as a whole.

First off, english is not my main language. And even though, I don't think there was a single time I stopped this series to search for a word. It's context said a lot and I could easily just chill and listen. That being said, please forgive any misspelling on this review.
The story starts with a cliched "So, you might be wondering how I got here" moment, goes back and starts to build the world and it's characters, filled with personality, every character is unique and rarely lingers or drags out on a inconvenient plot.
It's incredible well writen and the narration by Shanya Small is amazing. You can easily distinguish most characters and picture them.
There are a few bits that seems off, but they close most of the hooks throughout the trilogy. The chapters are short so it's easy to have a quick listen. Every chapter starts with a subtle "where" and "who" is there. So you don't really have to remember where on a 58 floor building each character is.
Each chapter and book ends with a good cliffhanger and rarely seems misplaced. So if you have access to the plus catalog it's an amazing pick up. (By the time this review is writen, all three books are there, not sure how this will age).
By itself the book is great, But you do need the entire trilogy to get to the end of the story, they're not separate, but they're definitely worth listening.
It easily became one of my life time favorite books and the book that made me fall in love with audiobooks as a whole.
Side note: As a Sci-Fi story, some of the theoretical physics we have, in this world are not theoretical anymore. So even though glamorous and exagerated it feels so very realistc and quite possible.
