Historia
Published in 1903, The Call of the Wild is an American literary treasure. Set in Alaska and the Canadian Yukon Territory during the 1890s Klondike gold rush, this fictional tale opens when Buck, a dog that is part St. Bernard and part Scotch shepherd, is kidnapped from his comfortable home in Northern California. He soon finds himself heading north where large, strong sled dogs are in high demand. Buck learns to adapt to the frozen, Arctic land.

I love mountain stories, but this is all about a did, told by the dog and later about an abusive father.

Historia
Welcome to Three Pines, where the cruelest month is about to deliver on its threat. It's spring in the tiny, forgotten village; buds are on the trees, and the first flowers are struggling through the newly thawed earth. But not everything is meant to return to life.... When some villagers decide to celebrate Easter with a séance at the Old Hadley House, they are hoping to rid the town of its evil - until one of their party dies of fright. Was this a natural death, or was the victim somehow helped along?

I'm really great at figuring out the endings, and I love mysteries. This writer is really really good! She had me stumped with every new book!

Seven-year-old Henry Day is kidnapped and renamed "Aniday" by changelings, ageless beings who inhabit the woods near his home. The changelings also leave behind one of their own, who flawlessly impersonates Henry except for one noteworthy detail: the new Henry is a prodigiously talented pianist.

Unique
Revisado: 06-10-06
A very unique story, I'm glad that I chose it. I found it to be captivating and easy to visualize while I was sewing. I only gave it 4 stars because I usually like to purchase 30-40 hour long unabridged tales. Sorry this one stopped, I could have listened to it all week.

The End ;o(
Revisado: 02-22-04
I have a small business and sew a lot. I discovered audio books a long time ago and have listened to hours upon hours. I was thrilled to find a 41 hour unabridged book, I wonder how authors are able to write so much material? I believe this author must have been hovering above these people and writing as she went.
This work is astounding, word by word, moment by moment, you are there, living with these people, thinking their thoughts, right beside them.
I was so involved in their lives, I wasn't very happy when all of a sudden the reader said "The End"!
