Historia
Bryon and Mark aren't related, but they are as close as brothers. Ever since his parents died when he was nine, Mark has lived with Bryon and his mother. Now at 16, they like to reminisce about old times - the fights and pranks at school, smoking and swearing - junk they got into when they were younger. But lately things have been different. Bryon starts spending a lot of time with Cathy, and she makes him feel there are some things worth working for. He grows bored with all the fighting, the dead-end choices of life on the streets.

Story Hits Different Since High School.
Revisado: 12-14-23
I haven't read this book since High School and man oh man do I view it in a different light. Kinda like Brian seeing how much has change and how differently he felt. This is my book from S.E. Hinton though I am not so sure if I'd still call this one my favorite book of hers. While I get the ending, it did seem a bit rush.

Not what I expected, but still good!
Revisado: 12-22-22
I've had this book on my to-read list for years and now have the satisfaction to cross it off. However, I don't think this is Zora's best work. I can't exactly pinpoint how this text could have improved, but when I compare it to Zora's other work like Barracoon or Sweat, I feel this fell short.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Eerily Fascinating!
Revisado: 11-06-22
I thought this was simply going to be a crime detail of Teddy but the mythical creature took me for a loop! Are they real? Who knows, but it's still a haunting yet exciting adventure to explore. From Teddy's troubled background, the author's background, his village, and these mythical creatures called the Iñukuns. Great to listen! 5/5 recommend!

Bittersweet Story That Could Have Been Just Sweet
Revisado: 11-04-22
Listened to it in one take! Though it's just a little over two hours. Still, you had to find out what was going to happen. This is such a sad story with a small happy ending, but it could have been happier had Raymond not interjected and kidnapped the kids! He's caused more destruction than good.

Historia
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

Very relatable!
Revisado: 10-18-22
It really touches you personally. Especially when the author mentioned "marking checklist" because that's the only reason I jumped to listen to this audio. I have a checklist of books and audios I need to read and listen to as a goal and resolution to complete 150 for this year and I'm so behind after exhausting myself with books as they became more of a chore than a hobby. While it may not necessarily give the answer and just given exhausted suggestions for "burnouts", it's still something so relatable and very comforting to know that I'm not the only one who is trying to make sense of my society and where I'm placed in it. Maybe, by some miracle, we can find the answer within these people's burnout stores and find a relation to them all. Definitely a recommend to my millennial brothers and sisters!👍

I didn't expect to find myself enjoying the story as much as I did. I listened it in one sitting, though admittedly the audible wasn't long. Still, I am the type that is restless and can't stick to one task, so that must be saying something!

Wholesome, but not Betty Smith's best work
Revisado: 04-09-22
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my all-time favorite books and I am determined to read all of Smith's work. This is the last novel she ever published, and it sadly doesn't hold a torch compared to her other work. While Annie and Carl do have some bumps in their marriage, I felt that these hurdles were almost too easily fixed, or sometimes something super convenient comes by them. It's not a bad book. It's just not that great of a book. I would still recommend it to those who are suckers for happy endings or likes to read about young married couples., but I know there are definitely better readings than this.
