Historia
Donald Trump isn't a despot. But he is increasingly acting like the "despot's apprentice", an understudy in authoritarian tactics that threaten to erode American democracy, including attacking the press, threatening rule of law by firing those who investigate his alleged wrongdoings, using nepotism to staff the White House, and countless other techniques. Donald Trump is borrowing tactics from the world's dictators and despots.

I think every American should listen to or read this book
Revisado: 09-10-21
The book was very well done and very well narrated. It brings up points in history of the world that parallel the situation we found ourselves in during the Trump era. I wish they still had civics in school to teach the high school students who are about to be voters about the importance of a democracy. I highly recommend this book and I am not a political person.

Historia
In the number-one New York Times best seller Mindhunter, John Douglas, who headed the FBI's elite Investigative Support Unit, told the story of his brilliant and terrifying career tracking down some of the most heinous criminals in history. Now, in Journey into Darkness, Douglas profiles vicious serial killers, rapists, and child molesters. He is straightforward, blunt, often irreverent, and outspoken, but takes pains not to glorify any of these murderers.

Truth is ugly
Revisado: 12-02-20
We would all like to think that things have happy endings. But they do not. The stories, or rather retelling of the facts
contained within this book or not pleasant they are not something you would wanna listen to with your youngest children. But still you should listen because from every story there are massive lessons to be learned. Whether we are white black green orange redOr sky blue pink . We are all in this together we have to look out for each other we have to protect each other we have to keep an eye out in our neighborhoods and beyond. The narrator was wonderful the stories at times heartbreaking, but still something that needs to be heard I would suggest you have your older children listen to this (what I said was yourOlder children) but I am paralyzed and have to rely on speech to text. This book is well worth the price listen to it and learn, especially if you are a police officer or a first responder.

Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Usually, I read true crime or biographies, but I also love the Harry Potter books so I am open to both. I enjoyed listening to this production and listened start to finish. If you need a break from the daily terrors of the White House, this is a good read.

Historia
Detective Derek Mois wasn’t sure what he was dealing with when in March 2008 he walked into a home in an affluent Omaha neighborhood and was confronted with two bodies. Both had been murdered with kitchen knives plunged into their throats. Who would do something so vile, and why? Lacking answers, Mois and other detectives working the case were stumped. Five years later, a strikingly similar crime occurred in which two more victims were brutally murdered with knives expertly thrust into their jugular veins.

There are things in this book everyone should know
Revisado: 06-04-19
In my life I have had 12 major surgeries And in the last three years three brain surgeries, three strokes and I know what it is like to be totally helpless and in the hands of hospital staff, doctors, nurses. And I know there is a tendency to let hospitals or nurses who have questionable things in their background that get passed from hospital to hospital. Reading this book will prompt you to check into the backgrounds of your doctors or surgeons and that's a good thing. Gathering knowledge on what goes on behind the scenes with doctors and hospitals could save your life or the life of your loved ones. Being blind to it could be fatal.

I wish I knew the ending
Revisado: 06-04-19
The story, as unbelievable as it may seem is true. But I have to speak up here about editing, after all this is a published book and I assume there were editors in most if not all of the audiobooks and even with announcers on television they keep saying EcKCETERA, when the word is ETCETERA, it is infuriating because these people have degrees in journalism creative writing you name it. But this book went beyond the beyond's with some words, for instance, neither the writer nor the editor nor the performer seem to know the difference between epithet and epitaph. On three different occasions the word epitaph was used in place of the word epithet AND one word which I cannot remember at the time that I am writing this review was totally laughable the words started with an H but I cannot remember what it was at this time. As a matter of fact one time the performer pronounced etc. asEGG-CETERA. I thought it was about time I spoke up after all I DO purchase a whole lot of audiobooks. What do editors get paid for anyway if they cannot edit properly?

An absolute must-read or must listen to
Revisado: 05-19-19
There is a mad man in the White House. This book tells you how the FBI does things and how it is so wrong that Trump is able to fire FBI directors or acting directors at his whim just because they know what he is up to. Trump is not protecting you, he doesn't give a damn about you. That is why we have these agencies to protect us. Trump and the truth do not even have a nodding acquaintance he lies for no reason at all he exaggerates he overstates, he glorifies himself at every turn while at the same time he insults, makes fun of, makes nicknames for, everyone and anyone who does not agree with him. And because they are encouraged by this dunderhead, the southern states are starting to go backwards with women's rights, you know, those states where everybody is on disability? Where inbreeding is commonplace because incest is commonplace?
The book is not to be missed along with James Comey's" A Higher Loyalty", and Bob Woodward's" Fear."

Historia
With authoritative reporting honed through eight presidencies from Nixon to Obama, author Bob Woodward reveals in unprecedented detail the harrowing life inside President Donald Trump’s White House and precisely how he makes decisions on major foreign and domestic policies. Woodward draws from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand sources, meeting notes, personal diaries, files, and documents. The focus is on the explosive debates and the decision-making in the Oval Office, the Situation Room, Air Force One, and the White House residence.

Revisado: 09-20-18
I've listened twice so far. There is so much to absorb. Woodward didn't bother building characters, this isn't a novel, it is reporting. I'd recommend (and have done so) TO ANYONE. Whether you like trump or not, you have the right to know what is in the White House. I'd also suggest James Comey's book "A Higher Loyalty."
I am eager for Andrew G. McCabe's book, I've pre-ordered it. We have the right to know.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Revisado: 03-05-18
Exceedingly well-written book. For once, the whole impact of the survivors, family, friends is laid bare by a sister who truly loved/loves her murdered little sister, her mother, father, grandmother, extended family.
Truly, the Surrey police should be deeply ashamed of their very poor police work, their bullying, their lies, selling out to Rupert Murdoch with little or no regard for the family. In fact, they should be flayed in public, as should Murdoch and the murderer. I'd be happy to participate. It wasn't until the Surrey police were commanded by a new female commander that anything at all was done. The fact that the PM was cozy with the CEO of the offending Murdoch publications, neighbors, in fact made the hacking of phones including the murdered Milly's phone...as well as many other innocent victims..a whole lot easier as they had inside info from the police.
If I ruled the world (happily for them I do not), each of them would have a very slow, painful, public death. But before that I'd have QUALIFIED CSI go through their homes, phones, computers, the phones of their children parents, girl and boyfriends, everyone they were in contact with...and plaster everything in the newspapers, on YouTube, Vimeo, in fact I'd put up websites showing their dirty laundry. THAT is the impact the book had on me. Oh, and the murderer? I'd hire Stephen King to come up with a unique, horrible death for that turd.
