The Forgotten Room
Revisado: 10-30-22
What incredible minds. in my wildest dreams or nightmoes I could never come up with a story or saga so delightfully entertaining.
The depth of even the most minute actors is incredible.
I could almost smell the sea, almost hear the howl of the hurricane .and feel the chill in the air as the season changes.
Before starting the series, Pendergast was my favorite character. of any books I have read. However Jeremy Logan is in his shadow and will give him a run for his money..
How incredibly genius to have a Forgotten Room.

Historia
Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die.

Research
Revisado: 10-09-22
My background is in health care. while the author did a tremendous amount of research, I don't find it comforting at all to see the billions of dollars going toward an end to cancer. The description of drugs used in the book are right on the money, And they are used in cancer treatments.
It took next to no time to find an answer to AIDS and yet with all the money going to cancer, it's still not changed.
Perhaps there is too much money.
Think of the enormous hospitals, research centers, doctors, nurses, drug companies that would be without jobs if there were an actual cure found.
After watching babies die and parents devastated after the death of a baby surely there are better answers.
Watch a 70 or 80 year old so nauseated they cannot even think about food, their hair falls out and even heart failure because the very drug to help them. poisons their hearts. Or they bleed to death or come close to death because of no platelets.
Perhaps I should have skipped the last chapters.
G-d bless every child or adult that must endure this hell.

The Crows
Revisado: 09-19-22
OMG. Not until the last pages did I know what the crows were about.
We have sad cases like this in our society and I find that Lincoln/Child have their fingers on the pulse of reality and turn it into the most amazing fiction.
Since finding Agent Pendergast and his escapades I have little to no interest in other writers or story tellers. There are a few, but very few.
I'm interested to find what they have to come up with regarding our "now". Or maybe they have and I just haven't read it yet. These two authors are beyond the realm of great. They must live forever and continue to create; it is a rare talent.

Captain Hayward leads the official homicide investigation, while Pendergast, D'Agosta, and Nora undertake a private quest for the truth. Their serpentine journey takes them into a part of Manhattan they never imagined could exist: a secretive and deadly hotbed of Obeah, the West Indian Zombii cult of sorcery and magic. And it is here they find their true peril is just beginning.

Historia
Art critic Jeremy Grove is found dead, his face frozen in a mask of terror. His body temperature is grotesquely high; he is discovered in a room barricaded from the inside; the smell of brimstone is everywhere... and the unmistakable imprint of a claw is burned into the wall. As more bodies are discovered - their only connection the bizarre but identical manner of death - the world begins to wonder if the Devil has, in fact, come to collect his due.

Pendetgas
Revisado: 08-29-22
I think I'm in love with the FBI agent. This book was exceptional with the agent using all his talents and skill to once again foil a very intelligent villain.
The narrator however did not make a bolievable gent from the South.
The introduction of another for for a future book was introduced, as yet without a name but quietly hidden in the shadows.
Brilliant!
What shall I do when I've read all of Pendergast's adventures?
Why, read them again of course.

it took forever to finish this book. The voice was sleep inducing, story line for a much younger audience. Will avoid this author and narrator in the future.

Campfire
Revisado: 08-02-22
This tale would be much better being told by a campfire after dark. I was so thankful it was only a little over an hour. For some reason, the narrator's voice didn't sit well with the story.

Read times two
Revisado: 07-22-22
because of the intensity of the characters, I read this book twice.
As detailed as it is, I could read and reread it. I imagine over the years I will.
Pendergast is my hero. Individual, extremely intelligent, and suspencfull..
And Constance is a lady we should all seek to be like.. A lady being the key term here.
There's something about a Southern gentleman that is just profound.
