It starts shallow (on purpose I suppose), and gets really deep. Interestingly I can find something relatable in every story.

Even if you are in a perfect mental state, who is? And have no issues needed to work on, this will still be an insightful look into the human experience.

His holiness's life wisdom

I have read many of his holiness's works in the past two decades, for most part dissatisfied. This perhaps is due to the barrier of culture (growing up without a religious background) and language (inadequacy of translation).

This year i read two of his holiness's books, The Book of Joy and this one Beyond Religion and enjoyed both enormously.

His holiness's open mind / open heart approach to life, science, religion (any religion or no religion) breakdown the barrier for me and won me over.

Not the inspiration story

I got through a few chapters, but could not go on reading after Magic Johnson suddenly showed up with a kid, unannounced. I wanted to puke!! physically i can not force myself to continue listening to this story of abuse and torture. What, your boyfriend suddenly showing up with a son unannounced actually gives her confidence that he will be a good father later down the road? I can not wrap my head around this logic!!

Skeptical and a little bored after a few chapters

I begin listening with an open mind, but grow skeptical after a few chapters, seems to be another book that categories people into types, people are much more complicated than what he described. pseudoscience mostly

Only buy this book if you are a hardcore Christian

She quotes the Bible, in every paragraph, it feels as if 1/5 of the book is quotes from the Bible or some other literature. I being pulling hair aftet half an hour, I can't say whether this is a good book or bad book, because It is so distracting, and feels insulting at times because her advices is often pray and let god lead you.

Despite all the controversy surrounding this novel, even negative reviews from my favorite magazine The New Yorker, I choose to decide for myself, and the verdict is I Loved it. My only memory of To Kill a Mocking Bird was from the school days, and the book title was the only thing I remembered. So I dived in without any preexisting expectations.

I can use more words to describe how wonderfully complex and enjoyable and at times tormenting the novel is, but truth is, if you have at anytime in your life witnessed any form of prejudice, and felt uneasy, you will be able to relate with Scout.

Here is my favorite Quote:

“Prejudice, a dirty word, and faith, a clean one, have something in common: they both begin where reason ends.”.

Surprisingly helpful, this is not the first organization book i've read, so I did encounter some already familiar knowledge, but overall I learned some very good concept.

Yes, as someone who don't have immediate need to read this as a guidebook, i find it poetic and even jealous at times to the beauty within the autistic world.
