Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Riveting – beneficial for crew members & spectators
Revisado: 11-11-23
Even though the outcome is obvious that they earned a gold medal the unfolding of the story, was riveting and engaging. The re-telling of the actual race details were so well told that I felt like I was there at the time, listening to the race firsthand. I love how history was intertwined with reflective and contemplative moments with respect to each character. He truly captured each significant aspect of each boy in the boat!

My eyes would fill with tears
While listening to Much Afraid’s journey. . . I could relate to her and the joy of experiencing Jesus’ faithfulness. It was nice to listen to the explanation of how the story came about as well as her autobiography. I thought of Switzerland immediately when she described the ascent to the high places it was wonderful to learn that it was in this with selves, where, Divine inspiration was imparted it to her for this book!

The eighth grader liked it!
Revisado: 01-08-23
This is a great book to listen to with my son. Frequently, he would pause things and share with me his own experiences at the suburban eighth grade school that he attends. It was really a great conversation starter. It allowed my son to find community as well as connection with me. Great book.

Beyond memoir, this guidebook offers practical advice on everything from "How to Be the Black Friend" to "How to Be the (Next) Black President" to "How to Celebrate Black History Month". This is a humorous, intelligent, and audacious guide that challenges and satirizes the so-called experts, purists, and racists who purport to speak for all Black people. With honest storytelling and biting wit, Baratunde plots a path not just to blackness, but one open to anyone interested in simply "how to be".

Historia
A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".
