Excellent story!!!
Revisado: 11-24-23
I’ve listened to several books by Carol Goodman and enjoyed them all. This book drew me in with the characters. So very descriptive of the surroundings and the characters that I felt like I was in the story. I really enjoyed this book!!!!

I throughly enjoyed this book! Characters well formed and each distinguishable by the talent of Scott Brick. So much action going on and yet easily kept up with.
I think that this book could appeal to readers who enjoy suspense, military, adventure and even science fiction books.

Interesting series
Revisado: 06-15-19
I enjoyed book 1 and 2. Very Interesting story. Well developed characters.
I hesitated to get book 2 only because the narration was going to still be done by Elizabeth Knowelden....I was curious enough to try it but I sincerely hope that if there are more in the DI Amy Winter series a different narrator will be chosen...the breathy delivery of Ms Knowelden is hard to tolerate.

Historia
When her stepmother dies, Caro returns to her childhood home in the rural English countryside. She hadn’t seen Elizabeth in years, but the remote farmhouse offers refuge from a bad relationship and a chance to start again. But going through Elizabeth’s belongings unearths memories Caro would rather stay buried. In particular, the story her stepmother would tell her about two little girls and the terrible thing they do. As heavy snow traps Caro in the village, where her neighbours stare and whisper, Caro is forced to question why Elizabeth hated her so much and what she was hiding.

when does story start!?
Revisado: 12-06-18
Eleven chapters in and I'm still left waiting for the author to start whatever the plot should be. Trying to create tension by retelling odd children's stories that were meant as a plot device to explain...? what? The main characters relationship to Elizabeth? Her sister? Her surroundings? It felt as if the author was trying too hard to be elusive and drag out tension, that wasn't actually developed or there. Eleven out of 56 chapters and I gave up waiting.

So many eye rolls...I almost returned it
Revisado: 10-22-17
about ten minutes into the book I wanted to return it....I went back to the description of the story and decided to give it another chance...ugh, I got interested in finding out "who did it"but all through it I kept thinking I would return it because it was poorly written and the narrator was in parts robotic and her male voices were irritating. I've heard movie reviews that state "there was no chemistry between the actors"....there was no build up of chemistry between the adults and the children, no build up of chemistry between the female and male lead characters....completely flat characters. I was curious about the "who, how and why" so I guess that deserves the two stars. There wasn't a good flow to the story, just a good idea for a good story and everything thrown together in blocks to get all the information in the story out.

whew, the things we hide
Revisado: 05-29-17
If you could sum up Before We Visit the Goddess in three words, what would they be?
hurtful family secrets
What did you like best about this story?
the stories of each woman and how what happened in their lives affected the next generation
Which scene was your favorite?
I guess when all the discoveries were made....It made me examine my "story" and how each of us try to put the best face forward thinking that we are helping or protecting our parents, siblings, children when really it is just causing mistakes to move forward
If you could rename Before We Visit the Goddess, what would you call it?
I think it is a good title....It alludes to the richness of the story....every title I could think of to rename it just didn't hold that richness
Any additional comments?
The narration was wonderful

better than fiction!!!
Revisado: 11-13-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! This is information that each of us needs to hear/know. It is so well written that I got lost in the story just as if it were a fictional suspense story!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Red Notice?
So many.....The end of the story when the author spoke about the experience and his writing of the book....
What does Adam Grupper bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Adam read the book as if he was there and told the story in a way that pulled you in
What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?
I grew up in the 50's and had always heard about how Russia was full of propaganda but even so, I was surprised at just how corrupt the politics are....both in Russia and the states
