Historia
Have you ever wondered what life would be like without love? Life is a priceless gift deliberately crafted and packaged for our enjoyment, but it is not a bed of roses. It is a mixture of the good, bad and ugly-including pains and gains, sadness and joy, despair and hope, failures and successes- and it ends in death. Death reminds us we must make the most of this gift before it expires. How can we do this? Love and life are inseparable, dependent and complementary; love powers life while life makes love visible.

Love poems on audio
Revisado: 05-08-24
I received this audiobook in exchange for a fair review.
This is my second time writing this review so hopefully this one will stick. I appreciated the author taking the time to make an audiobook of his poetry as it is accessible to more people this way in some ways. This collection is about love, loss, and the nature of Love itself. It is a short read so it is easy to figure out if the narration and the content resonate with you. I wasn't sure if the narrator would really resonate with the actual voice of the author but it is good narration overall

The poetry and prose in this collection are love letters to impermanence, to our kinship with nature, to our strange ability to conjure meaning. Vivid and approachable, the work gathered here invites listeners to rediscover commonplace wonders and find new beauty in topics ranging from moss to mortality.

Historia
Trauma can be healed. In this guided meditation, lovingly narrated and supported by powerful healing music, Michael helps you release burdens from the past that you may have thought were yours to carry forever. Studies reveal a staggering percentage of adults have at some point been subject to physical or sexual abuse, with a large percentage of incidents occurring during childhood. Fortunately, the figures have been decreasing in recent years, and will hopefully continue to do so. But the effects of abuse and other kinds of trauma stay with us, and can seriously hamper our ability to live peaceful, fulfilled lives.

Not the right genre for me as a reader
Revisado: 12-27-22
I struggle to read epic fantasy, but I thought I would give this a chance because of the subject matter. unfortunately it wasn't the book for me. I did receive a review copy so I wanted to finally leave this feedback. it wasn't the book, it was the genre for me specifically.

Very engaging
Revisado: 01-21-22
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was nervous to start this book at first. I wasn't sure if the setting would keep me engaged. Mostly because I wasn't sure if there would be antiquated language which would sort of keep me out of the story. So that is the main thing I can point out in my review that I don't think is mentioned otherwise. Although the setting is historical, a lot of the concepts in terms of how the characters relate to each other are translated into basically modern language (and I prefer it this way).
I really enjoyed the first story so much. I felt like there was so much depth and complexity to the relationship between the two main characters. The second story was also good but there is a lot of setup before the payoff. Also I actually really didn't know much about Saturnalia (the backdrop of the second story) so I definitely wasn't expecting some of it.
I would probably listen to the first story quite a few times, but I'm really glad for the second story because I appreciate their contrast and that the main characters in that story got what they needed as well.

Didn't have time to evaluate every track.
Revisado: 05-09-20
This title is specifically targeted toward a male audience to introduce them to the concepts of meditation, hypnosis and affirmations. This is not clear in the title unless you receive emails from the people soliciting reviews (in exchange for the copy I received from them.)
I did not have time to evaluate this title fully because I received daily emails from the company promoting this audiobook title telling me I was running out of time to review it. (Within the first day or two).
A title like this takes time to review as it requires that you actually try the product as it is directed and normally it takes me at least some time to prepare a review. This really irritated me and made me unable to review the whole recording. So I generally would not recommend this title. The strategy of the people soliciting reviews for this is somewhat dishonest.

Based on a True Story
Revisado: 10-26-19
I received this book in exchange for a fair review.
I found the title itself sort of promoses too much to begin with and maybe was too melodramatic. Also, in screenwriting class I was expressly told not to base things on a true story because it would mess with the flow of the story and this is exactly what is happening here. The narrator was okay, in that he had a good professional narrator voice. I didn't really pay attention to how he did different voices, because the story itself was just too sentimental and went over every detail in a distracting way, messing up the pacing. I didn't really like this book, but I would probably listen to this narrator again.
