Historia
Supported by meticulous research and told in a lively, accessible voice, Ten Tomatoes That Changed the World seamlessly weaves travel, history, humor, and a little adventure (and misadventure) to follow the tomato's trail through history. A fascinating story complete with heroes, con artists, conquistadors, and—no surprise—the Mafia, this book is a mouth-watering, informative, and entertaining guide to the food that has captured our hearts for generations.

Loved the book nearly as much as I love my tomatoes!

As an avid backyard gardener, and being of 100% Italian heritage (96% if Ancestry is to be believed) , I was drawn to this book. I was absolutely not disappointed, and couldn’t put the book down (ie takes the earbuds out). It contains a wealth of information and insights, and is hilariously written. It wasn’t until near the end that I realized the author had written one of my other favorite books, “The $64 Tomato. I would highly recommend this book to gardeners and non gardeners alike!

Historia
Ulysses S. Grant's life has typically been misunderstood. All too often he is caricatured as a chronic loser and an inept businessman or as the triumphant but brutal Union general of the Civil War. But these stereotypes don't come close to capturing him, as Chernow reveals in his masterful biography, the first to provide a complete understanding of the general and president whose fortunes rose and fell with dizzying speed and frequency.

A masterpiece and a revelation!
Revisado: 09-08-20
At 48 hours, this book was a months long journey through a defining period of our nation’s history. Chernow provided the flesh and bones on a figure of giant proportion to our American story. I feel Grant has been under appreciated, purposely I feel. Chernow is so gifted in providing the portraits of the giants of our nation. One emotion that this read left me with is the sadness of realizing that 135 years after the death of Grant we are still struggling with the same sins today. I highly recommend this book.
