Historia
Most people want to avoid thinking about death, but Caitlin Doughty - a 20-something with a degree in medieval history and a flair for the macabre - took a job at a crematory, turning morbid curiosity into her life’s work. With an original voice that combines fearless curiosity and mordant wit, Caitlin tells an unusual coming-of-age story full of bizarre encounters, gallows humor, and vivid characters (both living and very dead).

This was the longest LONGEST book I’ve ever listened to. I could not wait for it to end. The plot was ridiculous and it took long to get to the point.

Historia
Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. After an obligatory year spent mourning her philandering husband, Reggie, she puts aside her drab black gowns, leaving the countryside and her money-grubbing in-laws behind. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York - for her first London season.

This was the longest book ever. I kept having to skip ahead and chapter after chapter it still the same thing over and over. I found myself wishing it would get to the point.

Historia
Back in college, Jane Lewis would have given anything to be like homecoming queen Connie Bryan. Instead she was just Plain Jane - overweight, frumpy, and painfully shy. That was then. Today, a lovely and confident Dr. Jane Lewis has a thriving psychotherapy practice, her own radio talk show, a beautiful old Louisiana mansion, and her affectionate, nutty dog, Olive, to keep her company. The only thing missing is someone to share her life.

Main character needs to worry about herself
Revisado: 10-13-23
I only got to chapter 6 then had to fast forward to the last 3 chapters. She is a terrible person who can’t take a hint. The ghosts were a ridiculous addition to this story. What kind of irresponsible dog owner just lets their dog bite another human being drawing blood and calls it a tiny nip. Talking to her dogs and that ridiculous “woof” from it was stupid. I don’t know what happens to the guy from the beginning, his wife, the r*pe victim, her assailants, why? Because I had to fast forward this ridiculous book. The god mothers voice was annoying, and come on! the police station just lets her be in the middle of everything. The main character Jane shouldn’t be in a profession she’s in. She needs to seek help for herself. I’ve never hated a book as much I did this one.

What she doesn't anticipate is for Eric to blindside her with a tactless breakup he chronicles in a blog - which (of course) goes viral. Ok ok we get it….
Revisado: 10-11-23
The narrator for Kate was just sooo bad. Her panic attacks were annoying, her singing of Eminem and Whitney gave me second hand embarrassment, her voice all together made this book unbearable. Her pathetic constant whining over her dead husband made me fast forward her commentary. Ainsley narrator was great though. If the whole book was about her it would have been perfect. I hope KH reads these reviews and sees that many readers can’t stand Xe sands voice. Kate was the worst character I read about in a long time.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

She can’t get the hint.
Revisado: 10-10-23
This girl is an idiot. No one wants her around and she just keeps pushing herself onto everyone. (It works out in the end but damn…) she’s so annoying about everything in her life the “big bad thing” she keeps repeating about over and over and OVER. She gets mad because the boyfriend doesn’t mention her, she over steps her boundaries with mom when clearly the mom can’t stand her. She’s a mess. The niece has her own problems and she wants to play mommy. The new boyfriends brother f***** Hates her but that doesn’t stop her. This book was exhausting.

How many times
Revisado: 04-10-23
Jamie says “but it’s my lovey I won it” it’s like the only thing she knows to say. I guess she’s too dumb to understand. I can’t believe she doesn’t realize this and that. The brother got on my nerves, he’s a bully but continues to whine and cry like a baby. He’s violent but thinks everything is justified. Sounds like a spoiled brat. The uncle was a piece of shit but so was the mom. I hated this book. And to top it off the narrator used the same voice for all the characters so it got confusing at times. Tried to feel sorry for all of them but it was just a big eye-roll at the end.

Good but too many details
Revisado: 03-04-23
It was good, I’ve read the whole series but I roll my eyes every time the author gives a step by step instruction for little things. It gets annoying. They can’t just make a salad they have to give a dang recipe and every ingredient for the salad. It’s ridiculous. And everyone needs help. Everyone. I wanted to like Georgia but she’s in everyone’s business. She’s always telling people what to do. Like with the chef. He made her a sample of his food and she just took it upon herself to make him make everyone a plate. I wanted to like this book but after 5 I think it’s time to call it quits.
