In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

this book is riveting and keeps you on edge the whole way through! The range of emotions I went through in this book is similar to The Terminal List! if this was James Reese's last story I wouldn't be mad but I will miss the characters I have grown to love since first reading this amazing collection of books! Thank you Jack Carr!

This story is told really well! The character development is perfectly balanced to give you an idea of who they are and what has made them that way, without distracting from the story! This is my new favorite book! I'm on my second listen through already!

Historia
What if you could travel back in time 100 years and right the wrongs of the past—would you take the risk? “Sundown: A Time Travel Society Mystery” is a wildly imaginative podcast from Michael Dante DiMartino, the co-creator of the animated classics “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra.” “Sundown” explores the story of a group of teens who go back into the past and uncover secrets about themselves, their families, their town—and America. 17-year-old Darius Hightower (played by Emmy-nominated actor Asante Blackk of “When They See Us”) is just about the only Black person in his small New England town of Norhaven. Adopted by a wealthy white family when he was a baby, Darius has learned to keep his head down and not challenge his family or its history. But when the outspoken Sanaa Starr (played by NAACP Image Award-winner Storm Reid of “Euphoria”) transfers to his high school and starts asking questions, Darius re-examines the truth about his ancestors’ involvement in the town’s most infamous murder. A time capsule from 1920 may hold some clues, but when Norhaven’s most powerful conspire to destroy its contents, it’s up to Darius, Sanaa, and their friends (including “Reservation Dogs” star Devery Jacobs) to investigate what really happened. After a strange incident sends them back 100 years to the scene of the crime, their fact-finding mission becomes life-or-death. Forced to confront their town’s prejudiced past, the teens race against time in order save an innocent man’s life and clear his name. “Sundown” is a sci-fi mystery adventure like you’ve never heard before.

Racist AF
Revisado: 10-05-22
I couldn't even make it through the first episode. the creator of this story is obsessed with race and can't look any further than the stereotypes they have assigned to certain characters. This steaming garbage. how it got 4 stars is beyond me. shouldn't even have one star.

Marcus Fenix isn't Marcus Fenix
Revisado: 09-10-22
I was excited to see another gears of war book come out. this story was well thought out and did a great job of showing what life was like after Gears 3. the only problem I had with the story was that it completely ignored that Marcus Fenix was very quiet and emotionally unavailable for the original trilogy and the books by Karen Travis.
if the author had taken the time to show us a gradual shift in Marcus at the beginning of the book it would have fit better but jumping straight in with a Marcus that talks to others about Anya is insulting. it is not something he would done. The Slab illustrates that the best.
before this author writes any more Gears novels he should definitely educate himself with the Karen Travis books and maybe he can redeem himself by writing a short story on how Marcus went from silent to softy.

Stereotyping at its worst.
Revisado: 09-08-22
The storyline was good and the narrator did a great job! Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Author. The sentence structure was poor and fractured. The Author also makes it abundantly clear that all white people are the same and forces stereotypes where there did not need to be any. If the authors views of white people are the same as the protagonist in this story then she is very racist.
