Entertaining. Some antagonists lacked development.
Revisado: 01-27-22
Love the relationships and skills of these assassins-turned-good guys! Great chemistry between them. However, two characters were sorely lacking in development: the jailed billionaire portrayed as a childlike simpleton; and, the reclusive IT genius that was "on the spectrum". Are we really supposed to suspend our disbelief to this extent? I expect we were supposed to focus on the action and the good guys versus their enemies amongst the intelligence groups; but, taking the above two characters seriously was a bridge too far! LOL That said, the entire Lone series was terrific.

Historia
From the birth of the Republican Party to the Confederacy's first convention, the Underground Railroad to the Emancipation Proclamation, the Battle of Gettysburg to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies: The Civil War reveals the amazing and often little-known stories behind the battle lines of America's bloodiest war and debunks the myths that surround its greatest figures.

Well written and narrated

Hops around a bit; but, nonetheless a very good way to learn history, especially the lesser known details. Not as good as this author's Rising Sun book; but, much better than his one regarding the Wild West.

Historia
The must-have companion to Bill O'Reilly's historical docudrama Legends and Lies: The Patriots, an exciting and eye-opening look at the Revolutionary War through the lives of its leaders. The American Revolution was neither inevitable nor a unanimous cause. It pitted neighbors against each other as loyalists and colonial rebels faced off for their lives and futures. These were the times that tried men's souls: No one was on stable ground, and few could be trusted.

More disjointed than other books in this series.
Revisado: 07-26-17
Not as enjoyable as other books in this series, nonetheless a somewhat informative read; but lacking a smooth flow. The story loses focus halfway through and struggles to recover. Disjointed telling of the Revolutionary War with some loss of focus on the Founders at times and chapters that suddenly move to unrelated topics. Caused me to lose interest in any related iteration covering this time period (i.e., Killing England, etc.).

Historia
How did Davy Crockett save President Jackson's life only to end up dying at the Alamo? Was the Lone Ranger based on a real lawman-and was he an African American? What amazing detective work led to the capture of Black Bart, the "gentleman bandit" and one of the west's most famous stagecoach robbers? Did Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid really die in a hail of bullets in South America? Generations of Americans have grown up on TV shows, movies and books about these western icons. But what really happened in the Wild West? All the stories you think you know, and others that will astonish you, are here--some heroic, some brutal and bloody, all riveting. Included are the ten legends featured in Bill O'Reilly's Legends and Lies docuseries -from Kit Carson to Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok to Doc Holliday-- accompanied by two bonus chapters on Daniel Boone and Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley.

Superb Narration, Good Story; but, Not Riveting
Revisado: 06-18-17
Well read; but not as captivating as I had hoped, particularly in the second half. Still, a good history lesson and wonderfully narrated by one of those "Duke boys".

Historia
Autumn 1944. World War II is nearly over in Europe but is escalating in the Pacific, where American soldiers face an opponent who will go to any length to avoid defeat. The Japanese army follows the samurai code of Bushido, stipulating that surrender is a form of dishonor. Killing the Rising Sun takes listeners to the bloody tropical-island battlefields of Peleliu and Iwo Jima and to the embattled Philippines, where General Douglas MacArthur has made a triumphant return and is plotting a full-scale invasion of Japan.

Great storytelling
Revisado: 06-02-17
This is the best work of non-fiction that I have read in a long time. The listener will find new facts about the war that you may not have previously known. The story seamlessly jumps from one location or one individual to another, showing many perspectives. An entertaining experience where you not only learn more about historical events but also about the people and personalities involved.
