Historia
Cloaked by the mists of dawn, Task Force 61 - carrying tanks, aircraft, and over 5000 Marines - steams toward Syria with deadly intent. Their mission: rescue 100 hostages from a terrorist stronghold - alive. With realism seldom seen in military fiction, The Med is a magnificent and timely epic that brings the human drama of armed conflict compellingly to life.

Realistic
Revisado: 05-04-25
I spent 22 years in the Navy. This was how it was. There were people who did more work than others, there were incompetent leaders, there were people who tried to cover themselves, and I make a decision. This is a realistic representation of shipboard life

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

Made a trip to Egypt
Revisado: 03-27-25
After I did this course, I made a trip to Egypt and saw a lot of the places that this excellent history talked about. Although we had an excellent guide, this really enhanced my experience there. Highly recommended.

Action over Substance
Revisado: 06-07-24
One of the things that I really liked about the original Clancy books was the action, but it was always supported by the political intrigue; the action was secondary. In this new set of books, with these writers it is nothing but fighting, shooting, bombs without the political and diplomatic back story. I think until they change writers, this is my last book. I have listened to the last few and I am not happy. Please do better

With the help of Elnor and assistance from Jean-Luc Picard, Raffi decides to take on this critical mission—and quickly learns that past sins never stay buried. Not a good book.
Revisado: 11-06-22
Usually I enjoy Star Trek books. This is the only one that I’ve ever had that I did not enjoy, and fact really disliked. There was way too much politics involved between the federation, the Romulans, the Cardassians, etc. I understand that there is politics within the federation within the other empires but this one was exclusively almost about politics and had very little action and very little to recommend it to other readers. I’ve got six hours left but I think I may send it back (Which is something I’ve done with very, very few books that I’ve ever gotten from Audible).

Disgusted and terrified
Revisado: 12-09-21
If this is story is accurate, and I have no reason to think that it is not, I am disgusted that anyone should be able to manipulate power and influence this way and that an elected member of our government would stand for it. I am terrified that the powerful members of our society have so much discretion in how they associate with each other to defraud the public in multiple countries, on several continents, for their own gain while casually ruining the lives of people who get in their way. That they can toss around talk about millions of dollars like it's the milk money is astounding; it was not just Burisma but multiple positions as either an officer of a company or a board member that Hunter was paid ridiculous amounts of money. Biden's entire family is corrupt and and on that basis, I'm thinking he is too otherwise he would stop it. I am incredibly disappointed to find that VP and now President Biden has this low character; I, naively had always thought better of him. The main stream media has done nothing to investigate this; can you even imagine if this had been any of President Trump's family? There would be wall to wall, 24/7 screeching about it on cable TV. Last, WHAT THE HELL do you have to do to get kicked out of the Hotel Marmont? This is place known for open debauchery on scale that would have shocked Caligula. I will never be able to look at President Biden with respect again.

Critical Race Theory: The Complete Introduction

Historia
Critical race theory is a hot-button topic that is having a huge impact on society. However, many people seem to have a misconception on what it is and what it is about. This audiobook introduces critical race theory in an easy-to-understand manner, covering many important areas such as: the history of Black Americans, racism, and why critical race theory came about; how the civil-rights movement failed to bring about equality; the tenets of critical race theory; and much more.

You are a racist!
Revisado: 11-13-21
The principal message of this book seems to be that if you are a white man, you are a racist. If you are anything else you are a victim of the racist white man. Critical race theory seems to cover a whole range of “Disadvantage people”; women,Latino, Asian, Native American, LGBT, etc. One of my problems with the book is that it goes back to what I consider ancient history. It goes back to decisions that were made by the courts in the 1940s and 1950s. He discusses John Lewis and the Edmund Pettis bridge, Dr. Martin Luther King Junior, The voting rights act, the civil rights act, etc. For the record I am an African-American male. I have in my life experienced some racism, But for the most part I think I’ve been treated fairly. I’ve been able to advance and I reject the proposition that I’m a victim because of the color of my skin.

Historia
With extraordinary access to the West Wing, Michael Wolff reveals what happened behind-the-scenes in the first nine months of the most controversial presidency of our time in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. Since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the country—and the world—has witnessed a stormy, outrageous, and absolutely mesmerizing presidential term that reflects the volatility and fierceness of the man elected Commander-in-Chief.

Completely RIDICULOUS!!!
Revisado: 01-08-18
What made the experience of listening to Fire and Fury the most enjoyable?
Nothing. This is the most one sided book I have ever picked up. I read a lot of politics; this is just nonsense. While I don't agree with everything President Trump has ever said or done or is planning to do, he is not an idiot; he is not incompetent; he is certainly not lazy or uninformed. This book was a waste of a perfectly good credit.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Nothing by Michael Wolff, EVER again.
What aspect of Michael Wolff and Holter Graham ’s performance would you have changed?
be more balanced.

America's fight against radical Islam could soon be over, and a top secret plan from the Cold War is the key to our victory. Dr. Sebastian Gorka, counterinsurgency expert and Distinguished Chair of Military Theory at Marine Corps University, explains how America can win the war on terror quickly and decisively by delegitimizing the enemy in the eyes of its followers - a strategy that won the Cold War and would end the era of Jihad forever.

My Ignorance
Revisado: 08-22-16
My ignorance of Islam in general is deep and dark. This was an excellent (if short) history of the faith. It explains their intense antipathy toward western people and civilization. How tragic it is that the people who invented algebra and cataract surgery have now devolved into barbarians determined to take us back to the Middle Ages.

Niall Ferguson follows the money to tell the human story behind the evolution of finance, from its origins in ancient Mesopotamia to the latest upheavals on what he calls Planet Finance. Bread, cash, dosh, dough, loot, lucre, moolah, readies, the wherewithal: Call it what you like, it matters. To Christians, love of it is the root of all evil. To generals, it's the sinews of war. To revolutionaries, it's the chains of labor. Niall Ferguson shows that finance is in fact the foundation of human progress.

Financial neophyte
Revisado: 03-16-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
As someone who knows practically nothing about finance, stocks, bonds, etc or why the world is in such dire financial straits, I found the second half of this book invaluable. It is clear, concise layman's language with lively discussion. I enjoyed the first half's history lesson even more. It explains why, how, where, and when money started to be used, what was considered money; the evolution of finance through the middle ages, etc. Good book for the non business guy.
