Historia
Ockham Explained is an important and much-needed resource on William of Ockham, one of the most important philosophers of the Middle Ages. His eventful and controversial life was marked by sharp career moves and academic and ecclesiastical battles. At 28, Ockham was a conservative English theologian focused obsessively on the nature of language, but by 40, he had transformed into a fugitive friar, accused of heresy, and finally protected by the German emperor as he composed incendiary treatises calling for strong limits on papal authority.

A very well written overview of Ockham’s teaching and significance
Revisado: 02-19-20
I am quite impressed with the author and the reader did an outstanding job.
I agree with Ockham’s critique of the Platonic Forms, but disagree with his teaching that there are no universals.
Nevertheless, fantastically written and understandable for someone with a grasp of basic philosophical issues and some familiarity with the history of philosophy.
One can see the tremendous influence his teaching had on the Protestant movement - especially Luther.
One can also see his influence in what would eventually become the American Constitution.
Highly recommended.

Historia
On October 31, 1517, an unknown monk nailed a theological pamphlet to a church door in a small university town and set in motion a process that helped usher in the modern world. Within a few years, Luther's ideas had spread like wildfire. His attempts to reform Christianity by returning it to its biblical roots split the Western Church, divided Europe, and polarized people's beliefs.

Luther Unvarnished
Revisado: 06-22-17
This biography is an unvarnished gritty earthy portrait of Martin Luther. While the author is sympathetic to the cause of the reformers, especially Luther, it does not appear to have led them to paint a biased portrait. I remain unconvinced that Luther took the right course, but am sympathetic to his critique of the Catholic Church of his time. The historical narrative of Luthers time as a leader in the reformation proves rather clearly that the reformation movement was ultimately incoherent theologically and ecclesiologically.
