It was all I could do to LISTEN to this story. That voice!!!! Frederik Bachman is one of my favorite authors but the narrators voice was annoying and distracting, and just way too theatrical for me. Her voice took away from the fabulous characters and amusing storyline, and I found myself having to listen to chapters over. I will consciously skip any book that she narrates.

The book kept me intrigued and was binge-worthy. The ending was disappointing and so unbelievable given the story. Still, I would recommend it as an entertaining read.

Maybe some people will enjoy, listening to the main character obsess about his break up, but I didn't. It was also hard for me understand which character was which--especially in the beginning because of the voice performance. I would love to see the performer actually in a movie or on stage--I bet he's an excellent actor, but the voice acting was a little too much for me. It was interesting that a woman wrote this book from a man's perspective on his break-up and relationships.

The conflict in this story seems ridiculous now, since Covid has forever changed the way people choose where to live and work. The book focuses on whether a long distance relationship can survive--even though the main character is over-the-top wealthy and can hop on one of his family's jets to fly anywhere at the drop of a hat. I found myself gritting my teeth over the angst the main characters portrayed. Very unbelievable, irrelevant and silly to me. I did like the characters and the performance was very good. Maybe if I read this book when it came out in 2018 I would feel differently.

People are not always what they seem...the book unfolds as characters unravel showing their true selves by the end. Good pace with lots of twists and turns. My favorite book of the series so far

Dan Riley is one of my favorite detective fiction characters. The narrator and story line were exciting and memorable. A "couldn't put it down listen"!

I dislike the star system for reviews. Here goes: the writing was awful. It was difficult to listen to, and I would have given up if not for the fact that this was my bookclub's selection. The reader technically performed well, but her voice was miscast. She has a sweet, rather tenuous voice that would be suited to many novels--but not as the voice of Margaret. What Margaret accomplished in her short life was at odds with how the author portrayed her--I had trouble believing this accomplished and remarkable woman would be so meek in her thoughts and dealings--especially with men. I also had trouble with the ridiculous "romantic" writing of her attraction to Emerson and Hawthorne. I felt like I was reading a bodice-ripper novel. The history was dumbed down and the author's attempts to realistically incorporate EVERY famous person into the narrative failed. While Margaret did cross paths with many brilliant people of her day, the meetings and relationships as told by the author felt forced and unbelievable. Her alluding to The Scarlet Letter in one scene with "scarlet" petals forming a letter M on the ground was so ridiculous that I actually laughed out loud.

I had heard of Margaret Fuller yet did not know much, so this novel served to educate me and encourage me to read more about her and other historical figures in the book. That was a huge positive for me. It will make an interesting book club discussion--once everyone gets over the terrible writing.

This novel grabbed me from page one, and is one of the best books I've read in a very long time. The characters made me laugh, cry, and shout out loud with anger and frustration. Kristen Hannah beautifully portrayed three American nurses in Vietnam and the bond of sisterhood crested through the horrors and joys of their shared experiences. The backdrop of music cited in the book was spot on. This will make a fabulous film.

I have read most of Joy Ellis's books and usually am not surprised by her twists. However, I was not prepared for the surprise in this book! It was a good one!

The narrator was excellent and I will look for him in future audiobooks.

I had trouble relating to the main character, Matt. I found him sleazy, even though the author depicted him as a damaged man, thus attempting to making his actions and decisions understandable and palatable. Didn't work for me. Without spoiling the plot, I strongly disliked the way the child characters were used in the book, and almost stopped listening several times.
