Historia
Sally Milz is a sketch writer for The Night Owls, a late-night live comedy show that airs every Saturday. With a couple of heartbreaks under her belt, she’s long abandoned the search for love, settling instead for the occasional hook-up, career success, and a close relationship with her stepfather to round out a satisfying life. But when Sally’s friend and fellow writer Danny Horst begins dating Annabel, a glamorous actress who guest-hosted the show, he joins the not-so-exclusive group of talented but average-looking and even dorky men at the show.

Although I’m sad to see this much-beloved series end, this last one was a nice set of adventures to send Maisie off to her future.

Historia
In 1760, Guillaume le Gentil, real-life astronomer to King Louis XV, sets out for the oceans of India to document the transit of Venus. The weather is turbulent, the seas are rough and his quest may be more complicated than initially thought. 250 years later, estate agent Xavier Lemercier chances upon Guillaume's telescope in a property he's sold. As he looks out across the rooftops of Paris, he discovers an intriguing woman with a zebra in her apartment. Then the woman walks through the doors of his office, and his life changes forever.

Intertwined love stories through time
Revisado: 11-13-23
Venus plays a key role in two love stories that are divided by time yet connected through time by Venus. Although at times the audio version of this book sometimes made me have to pay attention, but it was a wonderful tale.

A book for people who love books
Revisado: 05-30-23
Ms Patrick really gets readers, which makes reading her novels such a wonderful experience. You can be assured of strong, well-written, realistic female characters, and she delivers with several in this book! The book tells an interesting story of a housekeeper who suddenly becomes more because of equal parts of her own capacity and fate. Through her (and the story’s) evolution, Ms Patrick slows unveils not just her story, but her employer’s, and her family’s. Altho there are predictable moments, I enjoyed it and can’t wait to read another book by Ms Patrick!

Worth pushing through
Revisado: 05-20-23
The beginning was a bit of a slog with too many similar reprehensible characters that can get confused (altho I was listening to the audio book so realize if reading print it might be different). But the evolution was good. Clearly a set up for a second book.

Historia
A reluctant ex-spy with demons of her own, Elinor finds herself facing down one of the most dangerous organized crime gangs in London, ultimately exposing corruption from Scotland Yard to the highest levels of government. The private, quiet “Miss White" as Elinor is known, lives in a village in rural Kent, England, and to her fellow villagers seems something of an enigma. Well she might, as Elinor occupies a "grace and favor" property, a rare privilege offered to faithful servants of the Crown for services to the nation.

Another great book by Jacqueline Winspear!
Revisado: 05-13-23
If you enjoy excellent historic fiction (and don’t need sex in every chapter because it’s about the story), try this! Spanning the Great War, WWII, and the period thereafter, this book focuses on the adventures and experiences of a strong woman and the people who she encounters in her life. Well done with conflicts and issues raised by wartime service to create food for thought and discussion. I listed to it and Orlando Cassidy always does a fantastic job! Highly recommend!

Sweet love story with a lot of heart
Revisado: 02-11-23
Another lovely story filled with a lot of life—both the happiness and sadness that we can be confronted with. The characters are so vividly drawn that I thought I knew them almost instantly! And why this hasn’t been made into a film is beyond me! Well done!
