When I read a truly great music bio, I feel like I've connected with that artist on a deeper level (see Keith Richard's book "Life"). A great book can bring a depth of understanding about the artist and the music they create. This book does those things (in learning about Frampton's history and experiences while creating such awesome music), but I can't help but wonder about his treatment of Steve Marriott in this book. Marriott had a sickness that was as real as any other disease. His addictions and erratic behavior due to some undiagnosed neurological condition were a package deal that Frampton would have had to just accept in reconnecting with his old collaborator/mentor (and then he goes on to describe taking a toot, a drink, and a valium during a recording session with someone else...
But it was at the end when the author gives his heart-felt thanks to people, living and dead, who helped him in his achievements. By just saying the name "Steve Marriott", he may have found some amount of peace and healing, while acknowledging the most important man in his climb to fame.

Every time I read or listen to a biography of Jimi Hendrix I learn something new. This audiobook is one of the best yet!
