Historia
This book is my conversations with students compiled and stylized for easy consumption. I often discuss with young black and brown enthusiasts about their plan for success and a successful future. After 13 years of teaching in Chicago, recognizing the absence of African American men in education I wanted to make my conversations accessible to every student. Every where. We discuss the thought processes needed to overcome strife, the need for constant growth and development, the importance of reflection, and the necessity of community.

This knowledge should be included in every freshman curriculum- both high school and college. I wish someone had been this real with me when I was young. Hearing these words would have made such a difference in my life. This book will definitely be included in my children's reading list. There is no doubt that Mr. Agyarko has made a huge positive impact on many of the students he has crossed paths with. I have recommended this book to several educators with whom I work. It is not only a great resource for young people, but also for those of us who work to help them grow. Often times, as adults, we forget that these skills and this knowledge has to be learned. We take for granted the mentor-ship and work that must go into these teachings and expect young people to just know these things. This is a great reminder of the responsibility we have as educators to foster these great minds!
