Historia
Clayton Sanders left home the minute he had his high school diploma in hand. He waited that long only because the Army wouldn't accept him without one. Now, 10 years later, he's home. Home with no warning, no advance notice, no anything after being gone 10 years with almost no contact with his family.

It's good!
Revisado: 01-29-23
This 13th book is every bit as good as all of the others leading up to it! I think the Audible version was released back in December. That's last month. I hope the story will continue; but I am sure it will take some time.
Either way, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the characters; & the Narrator really makes this series.
Thank you, N. C. Reed & God bless!

Historia
The situation around the Sanders’ farm is bleak, and likely to remain that way. A region trying to right itself after an incredible disaster is hit once again. This time, it may well be a knockout blow for many. The farm is still running, still surviving, and still trying to get things restarted. Isolation has been the only preventative for the plague, and this leaves them with little to no news of anything happening in the wider world. That is about to change. The Fires of America seem to have truly burned out, leaving nothing more than a few embers. But embers can still burn….

Great!
Revisado: 01-22-23
This ("Fire From the Sky Book 12: Embers") is one of the very best of an excellent series.
The writing & storyline are very good; & the narration, while always good, is better than ever here.
If you liked "Odd Billy Todd," you should enjoy the "Fire From the Sky" series.
Yes, the narrator is different; but be is likewise perfect for this set of books.
On to number 13!

Historia
Its Thanksgiving on the Sanders Farm. Clayton Sanders and his collection of friends, family, and even a few strangers have managed to keep themselves moderately safe in a vicious new world, brought about by the most massive Coronal Mass Ejection ever seen or recorded. Anything electrical and not protected from the surge of power has been completely fried. Most cars won’t start, the electrical grid has crashed, people with pacemakers in their chests have dropped dead in their tracks, the list goes on and on of things and lives destroyed by an electrical storm.

Awesome; BUT one major issue
Revisado: 01-19-23
A couple of the earlier books, I think the two most recent, had some small sections where the audio was not mixed correctly & one where the end of a chapter was simply clipped off.
I didn't mention these, because they weren't THAT bad; BUT in this book, Ashes, in Chapter 18 somewhere around the 16 minute mark, suddenly one can hear what I swear is a television playing in the narrator's background. I can tell you it's probably something like a sports show or sports news. Definitely something about football. It's not like it's way in the background. The level is almost the same as that of the Narrator, now making the book suddenly become a very difficult to listen. I hope this is fixed.
Ok. I went back & listened to this part again. The "background TV" audio comes in during minute 15 & disappears (for now) at 16:17. I hope that's it for the unwanted audio, because the rest of the book is superb.
I am at the end of the book now. It is an excellent story, a well-written & narrated book; & I REALLY like the notes from the author.
On to Book 12!

So far, the Apocalypse has not gone according to plan. At least, not according to the plan Clay Sanders and his friends had laid out. Things are finally changing, though for better or worse remains to be seen. Clay has agreed to offer what assistance the farm can spare to aid Captain Adcock and his National Guard contingent, hoping their presence will help bring order to the area.

Excellent storyline & fantastic narration!
Revisado: 01-16-23
The storyline, for those interested in this genre, is fascinating & continues rather seamlessly from one book to the next.
This is the tenth book in the series that I am reviewing; but my words apply to all ten of them.
If past performance is truly indicative of what one might should expect with future works, I see no reason why number's 10, 11 & perhaps so on & so forth will not be superb reads/listens.
The narration is superb. Somehow, as with his book "Odd Billy Todd," N. C. Reed seems thus far to have been blessed with just the right narrator for each story.

Dick Hill, where are you?
Revisado: 03-28-19
I really like the Jack Reacher novels & short stories. That's why I have read all of them. I have also listened to most of those read by Dick Hill. This is the first audio book in the series that I have downloaded that was not read by Dick Hill; & I find the narrator laughable. It is actually painful to listen to the guy. I kind of feel bad for him! The performance almost seems juvenile.

America is the land of the free, after all. Does it really matter whether our politicians bend the truth here and there? When the truth is traded for lies, our freedoms are diminished and don’t return. In Lies the Government Told You, Judge Andrew P. Napolitano reveals how America’s freedom, as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, has been forfeited by a government more protective of its own power than its obligations to preserve our individual liberties.

This is a story that imperial China never wanted you to hear. It is the astonishing true tale of Frederick Townsend Ward, an American soldier of fortune who changed the course of Chinese history by leading one of the most extraordinary military campaigns the world has ever seen. Generations of anti-Americanism and political turmoil in China have erased nearly all traces of Ward’s legacy.

Historia
In rural, impoverished Burgoyne County, New York, a pattern of strange deaths begins to emerge: Adolescent boys and girls are found murdered, their corpses left hanging in gruesome, ritualistic fashion. Senior law enforcement officials are quick to blame a serial killer, but their efforts to apprehend this criminal are peculiarly ineffective.

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.
