No teachers act this way
Revisado: 02-09-24
I’m not halfway through this yet, but as a high school teacher of more than twenty years I feel like this is completely unrealistic and annoying. No teacher would act the way this woman does toward a bullied child. It’s plain insulting. I like this author’s books generally, but it’s hard for this long-tome teacher to get past these unrealistic and unfair portrayals of teachers. Do better.

Revisado: 11-17-23
So short. I suppose I am responsible because I did not check the length but I jump at any Frieda story. A whole credit wasted. Wow, just wow. And not even a good story.

Couldn’t finish it
Revisado: 09-22-23
I like this author’s writing, and her character development, but this book was just, well, lackluster. I found myself not caring about any of the characters or the plot. It just droned on and on. I may go back to it and force myself to finish but I need something more engaging for my morning commute. So for now I’m trying another book of hers.

Didactic. Preachy. Extremely tiresome.
Revisado: 09-21-23
Couldn’t finish. This was preachy and didactic and repeatedly bludgeoned “constant reader” with Covid, Covid, and more Covid in an extremely self-righteous way. Terrible, tone-deaf, and tiresome. I understand this was written during the height of Covid and so at first I just tolerated it, thinking it was merely background, but it went on and on and on so much that I couldn’t help but feel that we were being lectured to. (By the way, I read the other reviews and no, I assure you that I’m not in any way “right-wing,” but human, and trying to survive, and I count on his books to take me away. I mean no disrespect but the last thing I need is an extremely wealthy guy preaching to me when I’m driving to work.) I am so disappointed because I was looking forward to this book; I think Mr. King is a fabulous writer and I loved the Mr. Mercedes series. But this was didactic, self-righteous, sanctimonious fluff.

Not her best.
Revisado: 07-26-23
I’ve enjoyed many of this author’s books. I especially like that her female characters tend to be believable and not overly sexualized and objectified. Also she is a master at the plot twist, and though the books can at times be formulaic, I have found that she is great at writing these escape stories that are not too gory and dark, but just scary enough to keep me interested. They’re light fare in general, but definitely worth a credit if you commute as I do. But this story just felt flat, almost like a young adult novel. This is the diets time I’ve waited for the story to end; I was disappointed. If you haven’t read “Do you remember?” Or “The Housemaid,” do yourself a favor and skip this for either of those, or any of her other books.

No.
Revisado: 06-16-23
This was ridiculous. Several other books by this author are much more believable, suspenseful, and captivating, but this was the worst one I’ve read. The narrator’s voice would have been ok if the story were better but this felt like a bad movie for teens. I’ll read more by this writer though I will take a break for now.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

One of the best stories of all time.
Revisado: 12-07-22
I have read so many King books, and I am a constant reader and listener to many books of all kinds. This, hands down, is one of the very best books I have ever read. The story is rich, compelling, suspenseful, and captivating. It is a beautifully written love story, but so much more. Frankly, I think this is King’s best work. The narrator is magnificent, too, and brings it to life. I’ve listened to this three times in three years and I know I’ll listen again. It gets me every time. Fantastic.

I rarely write reviews, but please listen to this book. It’s one of my all time favorites. I used to have another version of the audio, which I listened to many times, so I was hesitant to listen to the new performance. But it couldn’t be better. What a beautiful performance. The story itself is life-affirming and powerful. Do yourself a favor and listen. As many times as I’ve heard this story, I found I couldn’t stop listening. It draws you in and keeps you until the ending.

Historia
You just can't keep a good girl down...unless you use the proper methods. Piper McCloud can fly. Just like that. Easy as pie. Sure, she hasn't mastered reverse propulsion and her turns are kind of sloppy, but she's real good at loop-the-loops. Problem is, the good folk of Lowland County are afraid of Piper. And her ma's at her wit's end. So it seems only fitting that she leave her parents' farm to attend a top-secret, maximum-security school for kids with exceptional abilities.

BEST BOOK EVER
Revisado: 11-09-21
THE BEST BOOK EVER. So exiting, so many plot twists! I suggest listening to The Girl Who Could Fly if you like a scrumptious adventure with some conflict and suspense sprinkled in the mix.
The book is expertly seasoned with exiting characters, each with their own personalities. The novel is all about the struggles of being different and finding your people.
