Historia
First-year law associate Sydney Batson knows she will be updating her resume by New Year’s if she loses her current court case. So when her grandmother gets inexplicably ill while she’s in court, Sydney arranges for a cab to get her to the clinic. The last thing cab driver Finn Parrish wants is to be saddled with a wheelchair-bound old lady with dementia. But because Miss Callie reminds him of his own mother, he can’t say no when she keeps calling him for rides. And as Callie starts to feel better, she leads him on wild goose chases to find a Christmas date for her granddaughter.

I just love Christmas stories at Christmas time while decorating, wrapping, running around town… This one was a cute little story that is positive and a reminder of what’s important at Christmas. I look forward to reading more of Terri Blackstock

Historia
For years, Harris Hayes has taught his daughter, Aggie, the ways of the northern woods, where she sketches nests of wild birds as an antidote to sadness. Then her depressed, unpredictable mother forbids her to climb the trees that give her sanctuary and comfort. Angry, ten-year-old Aggie accidentally lights a tragic fire and flees downriver. She lands her boat near untamed forest, then hides among trees and creatures she believes are her only friends—determined to remain undiscovered.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 10-27-23
I loved following along the characters stories as they all chose what to do with their sadness and grief and either healed or sank deeper. I related to many of them at different times. Just a lively story to get lost in.
The narration at first sounds a bit muffled or something, but didn’t detract from the story at all, I didn’t even notice as I was in the story, just at first listen, so don’t let that keep you from listening. I felt the narrator did a wonderful job with the slight variations of characters, especially capturing Aggie (the main character) perfectly.

Loved it!
Revisado: 11-29-22
Amazing story, I loved every part of it! The story was rich and layered, the humanity of the hero and the villains, all so real and almost edifying in a way. And the narrator was superb! Couldn’t ask for better. Every part was executed well, even incredibly realistic crying by the main character, snotty sniffling and all. Perfect.

Always better than expected…
Revisado: 11-21-22
I began to think I was going to be able to predict, at least somewhat, the way this story would unravel as I read. But I was wrong, as per usual with this author. Klavan never disappoints and has ever developing stories and dimensional characters. I absolutely loved it. And now that I’ve read his autobiography and The Truth and Beauty, I feel I can almost feel parts of his life experiences, demons he’s wrestled and love he’s experienced in the characters. I will read everything he releases.

Beautiful biblical fiction story
Revisado: 08-25-22
Beautiful story that truly helps you immerse yourself into biblical time. Not a replacement for searching scripture by any means, but there are just some things that I fail to consider before walking through it through the characters experiences.
And the narrator is great at differentiating between characters.

The words of Jesus can be as mysterious as they are familiar. For those seeking greater understanding of the Gospels through storytelling and poetry comes this book by Andrew Klavan, who chronicles his own inspiring, late-in-life journey to achieve a fresh perspective and deep connection to Jesus' most well-known and complex biblical passages.

Magnificent
Revisado: 06-29-22
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am purchasing the physical one as well to continue to read and consider. Points made about scripture I’ve never heard before and well constructed presentations of philosophical points that make you need to pause, consider, and listen again to really chew on. It’s one I’ll listen to and read over and over again, which is extremely rare for me. Unlike CS Lewis, I don’t often do that, even for books I really enjoy.
I look forward to reading more of Klavan’s books, both fiction and non.

When young orphan, Oliver Twist, is sold into an apprenticeship with an undertaker, he leaves behind years of miserable servitude and mistreatment at an English workhouse. Hoping to move on to better things, he decides to escape his new, equally dreary surroundings and head to London. Fantastic narration!
Revisado: 05-10-22
I loved this story and how Charles Dickens really affected the society of the time with story. It truly is such a wonderful way to gain empathy for others and relate to your fellow man.
The narrator was amazing, doing every accent so well! I especially loved the creepy (cockney?) laugh for different characters. It fit their personality and the situation perfectly!

Wonderful story, fantastic narration
Revisado: 04-07-22
I loved every bit of this story. Julie Klassen weaves a story unlike most modern day writers, I feel. I love all of her books so far, but this one may be my favorite yet. Also, Elizabeth Jasicki is a fantastic narrator. She captures every character uniquely giving them all their own specific feel and sound. She can do male and female, young and old, rich and poor all equally well, with such a lovely melodic voice.

Historia
A coming-of-age tale for the young and naïve 17-year-old Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey takes a decidedly comical look at themes of class, family, love and literature. Revelling in the sensationalist - and extremely popular - Gothic fiction of her day, the story follows Catherine out of Bath to the lofty manor of the Tilneys, where her overactive imagination gets to work constructing an absurd and melodramatic explanation for the death of Mrs Tilney, which threatens to jeopardise her newly forged friendships.
