Historia
By universal consensus, there’s only one exhibition worth seeing at this year’s Venice Biennale. Giuditta Cancellieri’s Il Timore di Dio, six paintings of something as yet undisclosed. Don’t bother buying tickets, though. A court order means no one’s getting in, not even the artist’s closest associates. The city’s been filling with felons. Most observers don’t think that’s an accident. At least one rumor suggests the paintings depict Italy’s most powerful gangsters, or its politicians, in compromising positions.

High energy and unexpected twists
Revisado: 04-02-19
I really enjoyed the characters that the author made come to life with his great narrative. The narrator did a great job with the many different roles he filled so well.
There was just the right amount of action verses dialog, either of too much makes the story move along slowly. This was so well written and narrated that I think I only stopped listening for a few hours before I had to start it up again to find out what was going to happen next .

An interesting story

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This story was different than I thought it would be before I began reading it. It was a good story but it never did quite reach an apex. I kept waiting for something to happen and it didn't.
That aside, I can see how this could happen, maybe not to go unnoticed until the whole thing was upon us like in the book, but it could happen. I liked the characters but it just feels under developed.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.

I'm just a little disappointed
Revisado: 03-20-19
I saw this book was available and I bought it right away. Every Greg Iles book I have every read was filled with action and and a very interesting storyline. This book is the exception. This story was dry and the characters were flat and predictable. I'll still buy his next book though because he has earned my loyalty.

This was a very good read
Revisado: 04-24-18
What did you love best about The Last Airship?
I liked the fullness of the characters best. There was good character development so that I felt like I could possibly even know these guys.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot kept me wondering. Just as soon as I thought I knew what was going to happen it would twist and go a different direction. I love a book that is not predictable, but one that still manages to keep the reader in suspense. This book did that.
What does David Gilmore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He switched between the different voices seamlessly, bring an added layer of character development. His voices were well done, not hokey.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
They eluded the Nazi war machine only to find death in the mountains. The people are gone and forgotten, but the treasure they carried away with them is searched for by peoples unknown. Now, in current times, the furry over the lost treasure is once again pitting nation against nation, father against son, and lives are on the line. It's not just about who finds it first, it's what happens next that will take your breath away.

It passed the time during a long drive.
Revisado: 04-19-18
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not recommend this book. It seemed to be a bit of a knock off of Stephen King's "Dead Zone".
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
The roles of the parents were pretty unrealistic. They seemed uber passive one scene and then would respond radically and unrealistically the next.
What does Rick Gregory bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought the characters to life.
Was Sinful worth the listening time?
Yes, it helped to pass the time as I was driving.

I couldn't stop listening!!!
Revisado: 04-19-18
Would you listen to The Weight of Silence again? Why?
No I wouldn't but that is not because I didn't like the book, I just don't listen to or read books more than once.
What did you like best about this story?
I like the dialogue. It was character and age appropriate.
Which scene was your favorite?
*****SPOILER ALERT - SPOILER ALERT*****
My favorite scene was when the Dad was shot. He was a selfish, mean, petty, angry man who beat and belittled and frightened his own children (and wife).
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moment in the book when Ben was talking about the steps his mom would take to try and protect them from their dad. How he could determine what type of a drunk he was going to be by the number of beer cans littering the floor.
Any additional comments?
This book was good. It had a realistic plot. It wasn't filled with hokey scenes just to fill pages. Every word counted. If I 'did' read books twice, this would be one that I would listen to again.

This was an enjoyable, quick read.
Revisado: 02-13-18
Where does Red Tide rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was a good story, not convoluted with too many twists and turns that sometimes end up muddling the story line.
What about Suzan Lynn Lorraine’s performance did you like?
She made it simple to tell which character was speaking. Her voice was pleasant to listen to.
Any additional comments?
It was a good book that I will recommend to my friends and family.
