Historia
The red night of bells heralds global catastrophe. Annihilation on a biblical scale. Seeing the morning is no blessing. The handful of scattered survivors are confronted by blood-red skies and an infestation of predatory horrors that never originated on earth. An occupying force intent on erasing the remnants of animal life from the planet. Across the deserted landscapes of England, bereft of infrastructure and society, the overlooked can either hide or try to outrun the infernal hunting terrors. Until a rumour emerges claiming that the sea may offer an escape.

DNF, horrible experience. Great author, interesting premise, but the sheer trauma of listening to the narrator left me scarred for life.

Loved the narration, subtle foreshadowing and really got invested in the characters. For lovers of dark fantasy.

We need more gritty, medieval horror!

Short but exciting ride, this was. Also based on somewhat historical accuracies, adding even more flavour to the mix.

The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. Of course, that's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers (or NPCs) to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.

Historia
Whoever is born here is doomed to stay until death. Whoever comes to stay never leaves. Welcome to Black Spring, the seemingly picturesque Hudson Valley town haunted by the Black Rock Witch, a 17th-century woman whose eyes and mouth are sewn shut. Blind and silenced, she walks the streets and enters homes at will. She stands next to children's beds for nights on end. So accustomed to her have the townsfolk become that they often forget she's there. Or what a threat she poses.

Mildly infuriating, a slog without redemtption
Revisado: 06-29-23
The slog to finish it wasn't worth it. Two or three good scenes, but the rest of the story was predictable. American-accented rube characters exclaiming "Oh God!" and "Jesus Christ!" on repeat. Lazy attempts at wrapping up the plot.

A lukewarm irritation.
Revisado: 05-19-23
Grinding through this made me lament the missed potential of an interesting premise, marred by American caricatures verging on YA drivel, delivered by a lackluster narrator with nasal congestion and gratingly incorrect pronounciation.
It had it's moments... five in total. The author's repetition of phrase doesn't deliver and comes across as pillowfisted, the overarching narrative comes across as half hearted nihilism at best.
Features the same amount of bodily fluids that you'd expect in the splatterpunk genre, but described with the same enthusiasm and tact of a ten year old.
Rather look elsewhere as opposed to subjecting yourself to this bland, spam sandwich.
