Encouraging and Helpful.
Revisado: 03-08-20
Worked for me. Ran first two miles of a 5K after following Jaime’s program — I did intervals of recovery walks and jogging to complete the course. Very encouraging. Her focus on being happy and relaxed while using proper form was so helpful.
Very clear voice easily heard over music. Very worthwhile.

Well written and read. Except for when he was reading the URL’s I felt as though I was in the audience of a speech by the author. Highly recommend even if you do not need the budget.

Historia
Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Open and Honest about his failures
Revisado: 03-30-19
Jon’s unguarded depictions of the failures he has endured are sometimes uncomfortable to hear, but each helps to move the story along and deepen our understanding of what can go wrong in our quest to finish.

Very helpful for any creative to stay sane and fed
Revisado: 11-13-17
Goins' enthusiasm makes his reading of his book riveting. If you liked the classic, 'Art & Fear' by David Bayles and Ted Orland, then you will appreciate 'Real Artists Don't Starve'; by Jeff Goins. This book builds on the same premise that the world has created fictions to make the artist feel that he or she is alone, isolated, and must suffer for their passions.
Through excellent well-researched examples from the lives of many creatives including Michaelangelo to Adrian Cárdenas, Goins convinces us that those who make art should continue with our 'day jobs' while we hone and practice our art in both private and especially in public while we build our audience. Goins lights a path to success that has worked for him and others. His personal examples of the struggles he endured when he was not true to himself help endear Goins to the reader.
Anyone who feels the pressure to perform or find creative solutions for a living, regardless the field, will find this book helpful. I highly recommend it.

Quick-Paced, Practical, and Helpful
Revisado: 03-24-17
Jeff's folksy delivery helped draw me in as he provided very practical advice about the process of moving from a person with many scattered ideas to finding one's voice through becoming published and perhaps making writing the primary means of support.
I have listened to a few other writers on this subject and was turned-off by their advocacy of sleazy marketing techniques and get-rich-quick schemes. This is not Jeff.
In Jeff, I feel as though I was listening to an experienced friend, a kindred spirit, provide seasoned advice. I enjoyed listening to Jeff read his book and look forward to putting his recommendations into practice.
Thank you.
