This one dragged out, and I even ended up skipping at least a chapter of junk I didn't care to listen to, plus other stuff that gets thrown in that wasn't needed.

Too much time discovering if gay

The story was fun, but the language reminds me of this kid at work who can't find other words to say than f.

Great pacing, awesome story

Unlike other books, if I missed a few seconds of dialog I felt like I had to rewind to make sure I got it. Other books you could zone out for a few minutes and nothing important happened. Really fun book, excellent narrator

Good story after getting past the first onslaught

You have to sit through fifteen to thirty minutes of f-word exposition. There's also some more sprinkled throughout. Use some other words, they don't even have to be made up. I bet the people who like f-word won't even know its missing if you are good enough at writing... But you're slicing off part of your audience by putting it in there.

Otherwise, the story is great.

Don't like the language

I guess you could assume street urchins have rough language... But I choose not to listen to it. If they had alternatives to using f-word, then I'd give this a shot.

Dan "Snowden" is main character's fake name

The author, Russian, has the MC's temporary name be Dan "Snowden", which isn't a Russian name but from England. I'm sure this is aimed at millennials, but as a veteran and in light of current world events by the country harboring this fugitive, it is bad taste.

Suspension of disbelief difficult

The author is making this story use real world constructs like machinery and circuits instead of just "it's magic". Yet when main character has 25% circuitry failure, her mech suit is still pretty much 100% functional, the only difference is things can take longer / splurt a bit. It's more like a computer game character that continues to be just fine until the life bar goes to 0 and then the fully functioning person becomes dead.

Overpowered and disruption of immersion

The author continually uses the phrase "oh my God!" to express amazement... But why would that phrase even exist in this world? Very distracting to me.

Cool magic system and island rules. The main character is probably okay being overpowered, but the secondary character... Why is she so overpowered and able to handle elite soldiers by herself within a couple of weeks after entering the world? Haven't those soldiers lived and fought their whole lives there?

What's with the 1 star reviews?!

I was pretty hesitant getting this book due to the one star reviews. Glad I ignored them and took the plunge. Very fun story and I've got the next two books purchased and ready to listen to.
