Historia
Lynne Tillman became one of nearly 53 million Americans who care for a sick family member when her mother developed an unusual and little understood condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. Instantly, Tillman's independent and spirited mother went from someone she knew to someone else, a woman entirely dependent on her children. Mothercare is both a cautionary tale and sympathetic guidance for anyone who suddenly becomes a caregiver, responsible for the life of another—a parent, loved or not, or a friend.

Narration ... meh
Revisado: 08-05-22
Narration had too quick pacing at times and was robotic. Probably a better book to read.

Storytelling at its best ...
Revisado: 01-22-21
I have and will continue to read everything written by Bill Clegg. His memoirs and novels beautifully capture the human condition with stories that unfold into what can only be described as a knowing acceptance of what remains.
I hope Mr. Clegg continues to narrate his books for Audible — a moving storyteller.

Twisty and Dark
Revisado: 04-05-20
Gritty, smart, brave and realistic thriller whose character’s live on the edges of American culture. Solid character development — curious beginning and a strangely sympathetic finale. Narrator’s voice perfectly captures the protagonist’s character.

Some good, some not to my taste ...
Revisado: 03-01-20
Excellent performance / good character development / somewhat complex and suspenseful plot. Not a fan of pathological behavior sub-genre or happily ever after endings, but other readers may enjoy. Good first novel.

Historia
Constructive Wallowing is the first book to cut right to the chase, bypassing descriptions of Eastern philosophy and meditation techniques to teach listeners how to accept and feel their feelings with self-compassion for greater emotional health. It’s tempting to turn away from menacing, uncomfortable feelings like anger, grief, or regret; however, ignoring them just seems to make them stick around.

My Kind of Self-Help!
Revisado: 12-18-19
Practical, funny and succinct. Good for those in therapy who want go deeper into feeling work or for those who have worked on “feeling their feelings” for awhile. The author offers clear, solid examples and applies her easy to remember strategy to a variety of issues people must work through in resolving feelings. I enjoyed the narrator’s sense of humor and real person approach to a professional narration.

Historia
Renée Ballard is working the night beat again and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out but then checks into the case herself, and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger. Bosch is investigating the death of 15-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch.

Best Narration
Revisado: 11-19-18
I was relieved that this audiobook used single narrators until the epilogue. I have heard books that change narrators with each line of dialog and it’s distracting. Both narrators in this book were excellent in narrating their own chapters, even when speaking the other’s lines.

Historia
Now Say This guides parents through a highly practical three-step approach to effectively communicating with children called ALP. It also discusses the power of words in all of our daily conversations. Each chapter addresses a different aspect of parenting and includes actual scripts and precise language for parents to use to set limits with empathy and to use conversations as opportunities for learning. Language is powerful, and the exact words, tone, and nonverbal communication parents use when trying to move through a sticky moment with their child means everything.
