Historia
Alex has taken firm control over his county as the count of Brit. By and large, everything has settled into a fairly normal pattern for him, his Numbered, and his wife. The problem of course is there's still an ongoing war between two duchies, and Regina Tanulf, Alex's liege and lord, has plans for him. Plans that he wants no part of. Except that he doesn't really have a choice in the matter. Everything begins to spin back out of control as a messenger from the Wild Lands arrives with a plea for help.

Historia
Living and slaving in Fill City One, you get used to the smell. We call it the Everpresent Stink. But every once in a while, on a spring day with a breeze, it clears away enough to remind us that there is something more out there. Most Fillers' wildest dreams would be just to get past the walls and live in the mainland. But my dream? It’s a little bigger. I’m going to Mars.

More preteen drama than scifi
Revisado: 12-01-20
I don't usually write reviews. I'm writing this one in case like me you read reviews before you get a book. this book was highly rated when I purchased it. It maybe a good YA preteen drama but it's not scifi. It also doesn't have any ongoing humor to make the story more bearable.
spoilers below:
The story is roughly:
Young brilliant woman from the wrong side of the tracks tries to make good by going on a reality tv show. Most of the book is about getting to the reality tv show and the show itself. The mob bosses that own her family mess up the show. She wins the contest anyway and goes to Mars (1 of 2 SciFi items). Once on Mars she discovers a superconcentrated fuel that would cause the mob bosses back home to lose their power (SciFi item #2 and entirely ridiculous). But the mob bosses have a plant on the team who sabotages the mission. Then brilliant little girl discovers the eccentric trillionaire funding the mission is secretly just like her.

Historia
In a world full of super powers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. After learning to harness his ability to modify any item he owns, he now runs a corporation that is rapidly expanding - Legion. After tangling with the local Heroes guild they’ve finally settled into a semblance of stability. Sounds great on paper. Run your company, make money, be your own boss, settle down. Except that with running a business, comes an inordinate amount of responsibilities. Like making sure everything keeps running and your people are paid.

Would have been better if it were 11h instead of

45h.
I like Hamilton. I've read most of his books and look forward to more, but this one was boring. I think largely because the story was stretched far longer than needed. Not much happens in this book. You could probably sum it up in a paragraph or three. It is clearly meant as a first in a series, but I don't think I'll be listening to the Neutronium Alchemist, the sequel. It looks just as long as this novel and the story hasn't gripped my attention. You can check out for an hour while this book plays and not miss a plot development. yes you may miss some long-winded character development but, to me at least, it wasn't compelling - which is too bad. I loved Pandora's Star, Judas Unchained and the void trilogy.

possible spoiler...
the writing is good, but it squarely falls into "the journey is the point" sort of thing. I realize this is sort of giving away the end, but if you're like me you'll listen to this whole thing appreciating the journey but hoping for some novel understanding of why it's happening. you will be disappointed. so much so that if I'd known I would've skipped this book. great narrator though...

Historia
Hot on the heels of the New York Times best seller William Shakespeare's Star Wars comes the next two installments of the original trilogy: William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back and William Shakespeare's The Jedi Doth Return. Return to the star-crossed galaxy far, far away as the brooding young hero, a power-mad emperor, and their jesting droids match wits, struggle for power, and soliloquize in elegant and impeccable iambic pentameter. Something Wookiee this way comes!

Historia
Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen - all of them - and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood - the blood of Olympus - in order to wake.

Decent story, not decent narration
Revisado: 03-08-15
This is my 300th or so audiobook. it's the 2nd that I have listened to completely and comfortably at 1.5x. The story is ok. If you liked Riordan's first 9 (and I did) this is more of the same. Nick Chamian though was almost painful. The narrator for the first few books was much better. I am no narrator myself. I certainly can't do voices. So I'm hesitant to point out when I don't like the job done by someone else, but then again narration is not my job. I will probably avoid books narrates by Chamian in the future.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Historia
Things are looking up for urban fantasista Ree Reyes. She’s using her love of pop culture to fight monsters and protect her hometown as a Geekomancer, and now a real-live production company is shooting her television pilot script.
But nothing is easy in show business. When an invisible figure attacks the leading lady of the show, former child-star-turned-current-hot-mess Jane Konrad, Ree begins a school-of-hard-knocks education in the power of Celebromancy. Attempting to help Jane Geekomancy-style with Jedi mind tricks and X-Men infiltration techniques, Ree learns more about movie magic than she ever intended.
