Historia
At the height of the Cold War, JFK risked committing the greatest crime in human history: starting a nuclear war. Horrified by the specter of nuclear annihilation, Kennedy gradually turned away from his long-held Cold Warrior beliefs and toward a policy of lasting peace. But to the military and intelligence agencies in the United States, who were committed to winning the Cold War at any cost, Kennedy's change of heart was a direct threat to their power and influence.

I’m so glad I chose this book. It is a story we all should know, even though it’s a heavy (for many reasons) subject. Thanks for showing me in tangible terms, the complexity of our country, without making me despise every inch of it. Very eye opening, in an important way.

Timeless advice
Revisado: 03-08-20
I loved this book! Make sure you overlook the occasional sexist remarks and remember the culture back in the day. The advice is solid, and it still rings true. The reader was also awesome, and he makes you remember when this book was written. People don’t talk the same way these days!

Frightening
Revisado: 03-07-20
The reporting on this story was very detailed and extremely disturbing. There were times I had to turn it off and go do something else because of the nature of the crimes I was hearing about. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was the way Amy Landon changed her voice while quoting the men in the story. For whatever reason it wasn’t very pleasant.

Inspiring!
Revisado: 01-20-20
I enjoyed this book.
I liked the way Mr. Sinise chronicles his story, and intertwined the events of his life to his current passions. He is thorough in his “why” and it helped me to understand the goal of his foundation which I had always wondered about.
There are times in the book that I felt it was too much information, but those were few and far between. His reading of the book was easy to listen to and didn’t sound monotone or boring.
Overall, I would recommend, especially if the US military is a mystery to you.

Overall an informative book
Revisado: 06-24-19
I have mixed feelings about this book. My crocodile brain tells me that these techniques will work 100% of the time. My neocortex tells me these techniques are straight up manipulation. Is that bad?
Maybe, but probably not. The real question becomes, will I use these skills for good or evil, and will I actually help people with whatever I am pitching? If I am a money grubbing A-hole who’s only goal is to get people to give me their hard-earned cash, I will become a rich (and possibly lonely) A-hole. But if I take these techniques and use them to show people an easier or better way to accomplish or improve whatever my product or service delivers, it could be an excellent tool to break out of those annoying situations where I feel a loss of control.
I appreciate the author’s passion about the subject and it definitely translates through the reading. I can tell he really loves this stuff, and he gives excellent advice and action steps. I have it a four star for only one reason.
He talks about epinephrine and norepinephrine a lot in the book and he pronounces the words in a way that bugs me. He says, “effiniffrine” instead of ePi nefrine. It bugs me. Do you carry an EFI pen when you are allergic to bees or peanuts? No. You carry an EPI pen.
That last little bit Is just me having fun, Oren. :)

In 1769, Captain James Cook’s historic expedition would lead to an English claim on Australia, but before he reached Australia, he sailed near New Zealand and spent weeks mapping part of New Zealand’s coast. Thus, he was one of the first to observe and take note of the indigenous peoples of the two islands.

Might be a better read than listen
Revisado: 06-18-19
The content of the book was what I wanted, as to the history of the Aborigines and Maori. More on their culture, specifically would have been good. This was a good review of how colonization affected them, however. The reading of the content was rather bland and monotone, which was disappointing.
