Historia
Rain slicked streets, riots, murder, chaos. It’s July 1992 and the Troubles in Northern Ireland are still grinding on after twenty-five apocalyptic years. Detective Inspector Sean Duffy got his family safely over the water to Scotland, to “Shortbread Land”. Duffy’s a part-timer now, only returning to Belfast six days a month to get his pension. It’s an easy gig, if he can keep his head down.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Just plain fun
Revisado: 11-22-17
Like the Martian, just plain fun. Entertaining and a great story. All of this read perfectly by Rosario Dawson, who better get the lead role in the movie as no one else could now possibly be Jazz Beshara.

Adventurous and thoughtful
Revisado: 10-21-15
Because I know Richard, I knew how this begins and ends. And it didn't matter at all. I was immediately engrossed in the each part of this book from the logistics of living in the Delta to the very weighty (handled in a way that does not feel weight) discussions of racism and southern hospitality.
We all measure books by joe many times we drive around the block to avoid having to turn the story off. This was worth at least 10 extra laps each morning at work and at night as I arrived home.

Can't help it. Love John Corey. Hope Mr DeMille keeps em coming. This one was fast paced with the same sardonic wit.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Certainly not HP Lovecraft horror, but a fun romp through the ... No spoilers. Good characters. Good reader, although the Vik voice was not so good.

Nostalgia well revisited
Revisado: 04-25-15
Read as a kid 40 years ago. Thought I would revisit and read again. Simplistic compared to many sci fi fantasy of this day and age ... But very enjoyable

A trip to an island off the New England coast - and away from the demands of police work - might be just what is needed to jumpstart Detective Doyle Carrick and Nola Watkins' stalled relationship. But a mysterious plague is killing the island’s bees. Nola takes a job at an organic farm hit hard by the disease, working for the rich, handsome, and annoying Teddy, with whom she quickly becomes a little too friendly for Doyle's liking.

Historia
Colonial New Guinea, 1906: A small group of mostly German nudists lives an extreme back-to-nature existence on the remote island of Kabakon. Eating only coconuts and bananas, they purport to worship the sun. One of their members, Max Lutzow, has recently died, allegedly from malaria. But an autopsy on his body in the nearby capital of Herbertshöhe raises suspicions about foul play.

Good but not as good ...
Revisado: 02-12-15
Fun and interesting, but not quite up to snuff with McKinty's other works. It almost seemed like he needed a break from his more intense works, and there is comedy. Still good but not as good.
