Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

This should be a movie

Perfect narrator, engaging story. I think I’ve only given one other book 5 stars. I think this novel is better as an audiobook than regular book due to the style it’s written in. So glad I chose it in a sea of choices.

Pretty twisted.
Revisado: 01-10-25
John marrs is a great writer but he missed on this one. Too much evil, not enough to care about in the characters. I would recommend reading one of his other titles rather than this one.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Just a little slower pace than i like in a book. Only leaving a review for the impatient ones like me.

Very helpful even if not journalling. It breaks down its guidance into easily digestible portions that you can leave and come back to when you feel open to taking it all in. Thank you, I plan to keep this around and revisit often.

Historia
Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

This story lends itself better to a written book than an audiobook, recommend reading rather than listening. The author has plenty of heart and humor.
