Historia
When she discovers the bank is involved in shockingly murky business dealings, Kat realizes she’s treading in dangerous waters. She turns to her confidante and handsome suitor, Daniel McAdam, for help. To exonerate Samuel, Kat and Daniel may have to expose the unseemly financial dealings of prominent aristocrats and government officials, and even those working to bring down the royal family. Kat will risk everything to protect the man who has sacrificed so much for her daughter, even if it means endangering herself and the friends she has come to love.

I so enjoy these stories and find the characters and setting very interesting. But the narrator just cannot do male voices. The men whisper and mumble so I have to constantly adjust the volume. Very frustrating.

Engaging characters in an upstairs/downstairs setting.

I’ve been enjoying each book in this series. I do wish for a narrator with a broader range of male voices. All the men are husky, whispering mumblers. And a few just sound creepy. Yet the voice of Kat is just right. Frustrating to listen to.

Such a boring story
Revisado: 08-09-24
So disappointed in this book as I usually really enjoy her books. Story just rambles on and on. Characters are pretty shallow.
Narrator does a fine job with what she has.
Wish I could return.

Historia
Electra McDonnell has always known that the way she and her family earn their living is slightly outside of the law. Breaking into the homes of the rich and picking the locks on their safes may not be condoned by British law enforcement, but World War II is in full swing, Ellie's cousins, Colm and Toby, are off fighting against Hitler, and Uncle Mick's more honorable business as a locksmith can't pay the bills anymore. So when Uncle Mick receives a tip about a safe full of jewels in the empty house of a wealthy family, he and Ellie can’t resist.

A fun cosy style mystery set in London during WW2. The narrator brings Ellie to life so well I found myself laughing out loud. Looking forward to next in the series.

Historia
Nothing ever happens in August, so Kate goes off on a long-overdue holiday to Whitby to visit her friend Alma who works there as a fortune teller. She's been looking forward to a relaxing seaside sojourn, but, upon arrival, she discovers that Alma's daughter, Felicity, has disappeared, leaving her mother a note and the pawn ticket for their only asset: a watch-guard. What makes this more intriguing is that the jeweler who advanced Felicity the 30 shillings is Jack Phillips, Alma's current gentleman friend.

I couldn’t get past 15 minutes the narration was so awful. So I can’t comment on the story. Too bad as I’ve enjoyed this series so far.

Historia
A reluctant ex-spy with demons of her own, Elinor finds herself facing down one of the most dangerous organized crime gangs in London, ultimately exposing corruption from Scotland Yard to the highest levels of government. The private, quiet “Miss White" as Elinor is known, lives in a village in rural Kent, England, and to her fellow villagers seems something of an enigma. Well she might, as Elinor occupies a "grace and favor" property, a rare privilege offered to faithful servants of the Crown for services to the nation.

When they arrive, they meet Rose, a woman Belinda knew as a child when she spent her summers with her grandmother in Cornwall. Belinda never liked Rose, who has always been bossy and a bit of a bully, but when Belinda's house proves to be uninhabitable, Rose invites them to stay with her. Rose is now married to Tony Summers, Belinda's childhood crush, and lives in the lovely house on the cliffs that he has inherited.

This is a fun and easy listen in the Royal Spyness series. Personally I like Jasmine Blackborrow so much better as narrator. The previous narrator turned me off the whole series and I stopped listening after just a few of the early books. I look forward to enjoying this more in this series.
