God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

good book if you have NO hope and NO joy
Revisado: 08-23-24
I wanted to like this book. I did like the people in the book. Each chapter seemed to get darker and more hopeless. The violence is not over the top, but the constant degradation of people to animals with NO care for children and rape at every corner just spoken as a way of life, was too dark for me. Well written I bought the story, and cared for the people, but it was cruel in it's treatment of religion, family, and life. If you want a book of misery THIS one would be spot on.

Historia
Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

cute fun short!
Revisado: 06-07-24
This was a fun little story, humor and simple story set up for a fun crime fighting duo. I will listen to more of these they would also be good to put on my list of repeat stories because it it short and I can listen to it with anyone in the car. From little kids teenagers and older adults who does not love a good dog story. !!

Aza's singing is the fairest in all the land - and the most unusual. She can "throw" her voice so it seems to come from anywhere. But singing is only one of the two qualities prized in the Kingdom of Ayortha. Aza doesn't possess the other: beauty. Not even close. She's hidden in the shadows in her parents' inn, but when she becomes lady-in-waiting to the new queen, she has to step into the light - especially when the queen demands a dangerous favor.

Spinner / weaver from Texas, loved it !!
Revisado: 04-03-24
I have cleaned carded and spun from raw fleece. The POO Parties would have been a fun time. I loved reading about how the author fell into this momentous job, it is strange when life works out that way. I also come from a ranching/farming background and I was moved by the abattoir loss and how it cripples and harms livestock. I hope in time the Orkney area can get the facilities they need to grow and flourish. The US has less red tape but it is still an issues here for smaller flocks. This is a great book to explain how sheep wool can be used, food sufficiency and how being green starts with SOIL. How the people working with the animals stress you and bless you in equal parts. So many timely issues the whole world is needing to understand the farmer and the food that we need for life.

WOW, great road book!!
Revisado: 03-09-24
This was fun and I have not watched Little house in YEARS, but I remembered each show she talked about. The way Alison talked about hard issues but saw the strange and funny things in it as a coping way to move on helps us not be bogged down in the tragedy but lifted to a hopeful better time once this was over. I am so happy I listened to this, It was so nice to fall in love with Nelly, who would have thought that would happen!!! She has a GREAT voice, Her voice over for Melissa/Hafpint is delightful ! I would LOVE to hear her read more books, she has a fun delivery. I am so happy I have listened to this book.

Revisado: 03-09-24
This is a good book, reads like a diary and shows grit and fortitude. This is a true life of work and self resilience. Not quite a feel good book, but a book of self motivation and can do with what I have. If you want something different, this is a GREAT way to break up your book choices. I left the book so proud of her, and it stays with me I am a year away from reading this, and I still remember and love her adventure.

While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. it was a repugnant story, full of self-importance
Revisado: 02-06-24
Total idea is subservient socialist is best for all. Also it plays like a check list for the woke/popular story line. Bullying , Government lie , morality of prisoner time for crimes, sexual trans-gendering, robot/ AI rights are good but self protection in any form is selfish and wrong, It is well performed, but it lacks true science, and all preachy about the story lines Audible is moving to... it was a repugnant story, full of self-importance...

He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Historia
Every modern city has one week’s worth of food to feed itself. Then it will collapse. Cut off the resources to New York, Sydney, or even a mid-size metropolis, and millions will soon starve. In Zero Day Code we see those immense and open, hyper-complex, networked supercities of the new millennium die. And in the last moments we see their vengeance take form as all the best and worst traits of humanity bubble to the surface.
