Overall, this has been a very enjoyable series it had its peaks and valleys. Some plot holes. But that's why we read these kind of series. I enjoyed the rapid character development. I enjoyed but the main character's relationships and how they developed. A good ending. Very solid series overall. recommend.

A lot of potential falling just short.

Annoying and inconsistent POV main character. Id expect it from a 15 year old main character but for 'one of the most intelligent people everyone meets" 21 year old it gets old. The overall story is intriguing and kept me listening. Nothing really original here it's been done before but it is still interesting. the next book will make or break this series.

wrong character for a side track filler book

I love a book that expands the world that it is set.
But in my opinion, I feel they chose the wrong character. I would have loved to hear about Aten and his entry into the game. It seems like a filler book, didn't care for the substitute narrator. I've heard books narrated by him before, and he overperforms in those, too. overall, just average, disappointing filter. waste of my time. didn't advance the story. I still gave it 3 because I like the series as a whole very much.

Every characters voice sounds the same. story is enjoyable but the pronunciation of similar names makes it difficult to follow who is speaking. done with this series in audiobook format at least.

Sophie! good grief! this character is a continuous nightmare to read. no consistency. a13 year old narcissist. drags everyone down and her friends are like cool. you just broke all the laws on the books and almost started a war but you did it super cool. can I come next time. jeez. the most enigmatic, maybe good"secret"society that is easily more clever than anyone, and loves to send stupidly cryptic messages is stupidly another super secret societies little punks because that secrey Society knows everything before this secret society does it. list goes on and on. just stop

I was hoping for more.

This one was difficult for me. I kept waiting for something to to happen? don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it and I love the series. But, I was hoping for so much more, the plot moved very little, after such a big ending of the last book. But ultimately nothing really happens (Except the last few pages). like I have read from another reviewer it was essentially Arthur on a road trip. In my opinion Arthur could have started this book how many weeks later with the powers he ended this book with and fill in the gaps with a couple of chapters explanation and flash backs. I won't go so far as to write this was a filler book, but...

Getting to be a bit much

Obviously being on the 12th book we are familiar with the main characters personalities but I'm ready to move on from Joe's character, he's become pretty annoying. Definitely not a fan of "angry Joe" he is an **shole. These consistent miracles are getting to be a bit much, and yes I get it that monkeys coming up with crazy ideas is the main plot theme of the series but, honestly, what can't the humans and Skippy do? I remember in the early books the Apex species were almost mythical in their technology it was almost untouchable and now it's commonplace. and, no big deal to go toe to toe with them. bluffing or not? I'll continue with the series but this was one of my least favorite books in the series.
