Historia
1983: Three students from a small college embark on a week-long road trip to film a documentary on roadside memorials for their American Studies class. The project starts out as a fun adventure with long stretches of empty road and nightly campfires where they begin to open up with one another. But as they venture deeper into the Appalachian backwoods, the atmosphere begins to darken. They notice more and more of the memorials feature a strange, unsettling symbol hinting at a sinister secret.

Very entertaining.
Revisado: 11-24-24
It took me a couple hours to get in synch with the narrator, but then grew to really like his delivery. There is not a ton of action, but the character development was very well done. You care about all the characters by the end. I was also left guessing all the way until the end. I couldn't decide whether the creepy events were the acts of an individual, larger conspiracy, or supernatural.
The ending was mostly well done, but there is one event at the end that seemed unnecessary and took me out of the book for a few moments. It wasn't really the event itself, as I don't get upset about such things in books, but that it did not really belong in this story arc. All in all, very well done and I will seek out more books from this author.

Historia
For more than two centuries, the land of Albion has been ruled by the supposedly benevolent Watchmaker, who imposes precision on every aspect of life. Young Owen Hardy from the village of Barrel Arbor dreams of seeing the big city and the breathtaking Clockwork Angels that dispense wisdom to the people, maybe even catching a glimpse of the Watchmaker himself. He watches the steamliners drift by, powered by alchemical energy, as they head toward Crown City....

Neil’s narration is great.
Revisado: 01-14-24
The book fleshes out the contents of Rush’s Clockwork Angels album very well. If you haven’t listened to the album, my suggestion is to read or listen to the book first. The book seems to be written for a younger audience which makes it accessible to almost anyone albeit watered down for an adult audience. Hearing Neil’s excellent narration makes me wish he narrated all his travel log books as well.

Historia
Surely You Can’t Be Serious is the first-ever oral history of the making of Airplane! by the creators, and of the beginnings of the ZAZ trio (Zucker, Abrahams, Zucker) – charting the rise of their comedy troupe Kentucky Fried Theater in Madison, Wisconsin all the way to premiere night. The directors explain what drew them to filmmaking and in particular, comedy.

So happy that ZAZ narrated this!
Revisado: 10-22-23
I first looked through the book at a local bookstore. While thumbing through it and reading excerpts, I couldn’t really get into the writing style. It looked like a screenplay with dialogue from several characters.
I decided to listen to the audiobook instead and am glad I did. ZAZ along with several guests bring the story to life in an entertaining fashion. Everyone involved seems genuinely excited to share their tales about Airplane.
I couldn’t be happier about the format and production value. Now that I understand the tone of all the contributors, I will likely by the hard copy so for its inclusion of pictures.

Rosamund is my preferred narrator.
Revisado: 08-19-23
Rosamund's narration keeps my attention much better than Kate and Michael's. I can't explain why this is because Michael and Kate are wonderful narrators. I've listened to the first 3 Wheel of Time books and greatly preferred Rosamund's narration for each. I'm really hoping she continues narrating the remainder of the series.

Love Pike's narration!
Revisado: 12-10-21
I'm a Wheel of Time newbie. The Amazon series gets better and better with each episode. Rosamund Pike is excellent as Moraine. So far, I have listened to a third of this book. The story is great and is opening up a whole world that I will want to stay in for a long time! There are a number of differences between the show and book. I have found that reading or listening to a book after watching a movie or TV adaption is much more enjoyable. I'm much less critical of the differences that way.
Rosamund is a fantastic narrator. Her demeanor and pacing are spot on. I'm hoping she would consider narrating the remainder of books in the series. To me, she is both the face and voice of Wheel of Time. It will be a difficult transition for me if I have to listen to different narrators moving forward.
