Who enjoys this crap?
Revisado: 04-17-25
I wanted so bad to like this. But they couldn't just write a strong female lead, nope, they had to make her neurotic and have her believe the world is out to get her(It isn't, she's just delusional).
The MC is a whiny, self-centered, PI who thinks the world is out to get her, but also doesn't know she exists, at the same time. She's ALWAYS complaining. Example: She meets her sister, who, is happy to see her, and stops her class to say hello, then a student screams and she turns around to respond, and the MC acts as if she's purposely being ignored. It's exhausting.

I started listening to this because it was free and I was bored. Now I'm trying to rush through before they take the rest off Plus. I'll buy the rest if I have to because they are that good. I was amazed at how quickly it was over. That's usually a good sign, when you look up and realize a 10+ hour book only has 30 minutes left and you feel like you just started listening. So yea. if you like Science Fiction or Fantasy, this will not disappoint.

I pick books I assume will be mediocre to sleep to. This was one of those selections...but boy was I wrong. 2 days later I had devoured the entire trilogy. This series is absolutely AMAZING!! If your looking for a new fantasy series that's not what you'd expect, this is it. You won't regret it. Also, the narrator is phenomenal.

Her desperation is dialed up higher with a shocking proclamation as she stands before him pregnant, weak, and weary: “Agent Thomas,” she says, “I believe I am Mary.”

Terrible
Revisado: 09-21-22
I don't complain about much, but this was terrible. I wholeheartedly agree with another reviewer who stated that this was very poorly researched.
I want to believe noone proofread this, because otherwise I'd have to believe they DID and allowed this tragedy knowingly.

Historia
Being a warden is tough work at the best of times. Keeping the tenuous peace between the five kingdoms of Fál is a difficult business, especially in a land of monsters and magic. Esben Berengar, the realm’s most feared warden, relies on his wits and his axe to deal with unscrupulous rulers, bloodthirsty outlaws, and the occasional witch. When the king of Munster is murdered, Berengar is called upon to investigate. Many had cause to want the king dead, and treachery lurks behind every corner.

One of the best fantasy novels I've read.
Revisado: 01-05-20
The Warden of Fal novels are right up there with Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, and Chronicles of Narnia.
I love fantasy novels and I'm always looking for something to lose myself in, but most fall short of the greats. The Warden of Fal has not let me down yet. Kyle Alexander Romines is one of the best authors of our time and deserves to have his name remembered through the ages.
In the second novel we get a different kind of story from the first. Where the first was high fantasy with all kinds of monsters and curses, the second has more of a suspense feel to it. The king has been murdered and it's up to the Bear Warden to figure out who, or what, did it. With the help of his new sorceress companion, they go from the royal court to witches in the woods and back to solve the case.
I highly recommend the Warden of Fal novels to anyone and everyone. If you like fantasy or just good storytelling, these books will not disappoint.

Fantasy with very deep settings
Revisado: 10-08-19
This is a fairy tale type story with extremely detailed settings. Every place they go is described down to the smallest details. You really feel like you're there. Much slower than I prefer, but I can appreciate the storytelling. I would recommend to those that enjoy old mythology, fables, and fairy tales.

Interesting fantasy story.
Revisado: 09-18-19
This story starts in our world, modern time, and thru a series of wild events and a portal, we are transported to a high fantasy landscape filled with magic. It reminds me of stories like A Kid in King Arthur's Court, except this one takes 3 grown men and puts them in a world similar to Lord of the Rings.
This was an interesting spin on fantasy and I did enjoy it.
