Historia
My name is Peter Grant and until January I was just probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service (as the Filth to everybody else). My only concerns in life were how to avoid a transfer to the Case Progression Unit - we do paperwork so real coppers don't have to - and finding a way to climb into the panties of the outrageously perky WPC Leslie May.

Nice urban fantasy
Revisado: 06-23-24
Nothing stood out in either direction, it had no brilliant parts but also no horrible drops in quality. A nice distraction. 4/5 is just right

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Good, with some issues
Revisado: 05-17-24
Good original story, great narration and thought provoking in the best sense.
But the pacing was sometimes off, the ending was unsatisfying, and several traits of the protagonist made no sense to me.

Historia
Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet.

For young adults only
Revisado: 05-17-24
On the plus side, there's good pace, drama, and pretty compelling story. However, multiple issues kept forcing me to realize that I, as a well read adult, am not the target audience. There are also too many problems: It's full of angst, which made me roll my eyes repeatedly. There are a bunch of Macgffins and plot holes and improbable events. It's not original and borrows from other YA books. And it's built as a first book of a series, not a real story. Sadly, the narration was also lacking and some narrator choices were just bad.
