Historia
There is an unnamed feeling that haunts most men. It's a sense that there's more to life than the day-to-day existence we're living now. But the culture of this world ambition and greed and fear teaches us to ignore that feeling. Our culture nudges us toward isolation and insecurity, boredom and fatigue, selfishness and survival. It teaches us to keep our heads down, to follow the system, to man up and power through because that's what we men are supposed to do.

I would have never read this if Camp were not the author of my devotionals. But, wow! I found myself listening to every word with anticipation. I will purchase the hard copy of the book to be able to obtain the suggested work of becoming everything God, my Great Inventor. intended for my life on this earth and into the everlasting. I love the Witcher story lines and am now ready for book 3. This narrator was great. He use many varying voices for the different characters. I hope he is the same for future books in the series!

In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

Historia
Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

Left Speechless
Revisado: 09-10-19
Very few chapters. More words and thoughts than the words themselves. I now see survivors of war differently than ever. The most impacted are those left in the wake of war. This book relays the pain, the heartache, and the impact of TBI & recovery in a very insightful manner. Perhaps the best part is the first-person narrative and interviews with the people within the pages.
One warning - the book is not for the timid or faint of heart. The language is hard & some of the stories are gruesome. The author does shield the reader (listener) from some of the gruesome details so children should not read it without parental guidance.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Seldom does a book leave me longing for more. I can count on one hand the books that have left me speechless and this is among the highest ever.
The author weaves fictitious characters and towns into a storyline that makes the reader desire to find it in the real world. Oh! There is no such place in reality. Or, maybe there is...in the bayous and marches of the shores of America there are similar scenes and people groups who are wrongly characterized by “normal” people. Today we call them Rednecks or Cajuns or something of the
sort. We see roadkill and think it gross but they see it and think lunch.
Sadly, if I lived in that world, I would have been among those who accept the false characterization of the people of the woods, marches, swamps, or bayous. This book made me think hard how I should treat others who are indeed different than my world but nonetheless are good folk.
This book has a few curveballs and twists and turns that takes the reader by surprise. It highlights the beautiful natural world, pangs of loneliness, artistic oil paintings and great poetry, real love and sometimes real meanness. All of it packed together among the back and forth of the years of 1945 to 1970’s.
I encourage everyone to read this book or get it digitally and listen to it as I did. You will be thankful for the experience and maybe start wondering when Hollywood will put the words to a screen one day (I see Justin Timberlake as Tate; A long, tall, cool drink of water lady with dark-skin with American Indian descent as Kaya; Chase could be played well by someone like Channing Tatum; Tom, the Defense Attorney could be played well by Ed Harris; and Denzel Washington could play Jumpin and Oprah Winfrey could play Mabel).

Historia
Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and the second best-selling book of that century, following the Bible. It is credited with helping fuel the abolitionist cause in the 1850s. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day." A thrilling and important piece of American literature!

I've heard about the book often. I avoided it related to the slave factor. This was my error. The book is filled with Gospel. Moving characters. I found myself sad for the characters fate and appalled that Southerners and others treated them so badly. but now I have a better perspective of their plight.

Historia
"It doesn't take an Einstein to understand modern physics," says Professor Wolfson at the outset of these 24 lectures on what may be the most important subjects in the universe: relativity and quantum physics. Both have reputations for complexity. But the basic ideas behind them are, in fact, simple and comprehensible by anyone. These dynamic and illuminating lectures begin with a brief overview of theories of physical reality starting with Aristotle and culminating in Newtonian or "classical" physics.

Probably more than 3 Stars...
Revisado: 05-21-19
My rating of 3 stars in all categories is probably not fair as the book is exactly what it offers. It’s a relatively simple explanation of Physics. I give it a three because I’m not sure that the book caused me to understand some of the principles. The author (Lecturer) is very well versed and does his best to describe physics to the common man. But in the end he is still super intelligent and out of our league even when he’s trying to describe it in common terminology. I stopped listening after Chapter 7 when I realized I still had another 7 hours of lectures. I’ve decided I can make better use of my time reading or listening to books that I can comprehend better than 7 more hours of somewhat incomprehensible lecture.

Historia
Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable or to dare greatly. Based on 12 years of pioneering research, Dr. Brené Brown dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and argues that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage. Brown explains how vulnerability is both the core of difficult emotions like fear, grief, and disappointment, and the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, empathy, innovation, and creativity.

Dare Greatly
Revisado: 05-09-19
I tried the book in December on a trip to Missouri, but I just couldn’t get into it. But this time in May, I was able to listen with thoughtfulness and went through it in a couple days.
I’m somewhat leery of Social Worker language and Brown is full of them - “Join the conversation”; “Lean in on this story with me” and others. Social Workers are great but they sometimes speak with an air of stuffiness. While I don’t think Brown was stuffy per se, I still had a tough time with some of her phrases.
But, all in all, this was a good read (or listen in my case). It was more inspirational and she used some of her own stories from her life to explain her topics and I thought that was good. I think anyone over the age of 40 would enjoy the book as it is the age when people begin to think about their life work and purpose and start the horrible time of midlife. If your in midlife or beyond, this book is going to be a great help.

So good!
Revisado: 05-07-19
I don’t know what it is about this book, but I really enjoyed it again. Funny, I kept remembering riding the ride at Disney World as a kid. The drunk pirates always scared me and the reason was played out in this performance.
I truly wish all of Audible’s books were dramatized like they did with this one. It kept me deeply in the story and drove me back to listen more. It really was so good!
