I wish I could speak like he writes
Revisado: 04-04-24
I thought this book was great. The movie is awesome as well, but in a completely different category. The movie is fun and exciting. The book is long, slower than the movie, but very captivating. My favorite thing about it is the language, the way Alexandre describes things and the verbiage of the characters when interacting with each other.

I know this book is kind of famous but
Revisado: 04-04-24
I did not get into this book as much as others, apparently. To be fair though, I listen while doing other things and when the concept and terminology are things that I am very not familiar with, I sometimes do not catch on. This book has many new concepts and terms that I am not familiar with so that may have been part of the problem for me while I had my mind occupied on other things.

A little bit of time/dimension travel.
Revisado: 04-04-24
This was a unique book for me. It was an entertaining easy listen. Not heavy thinking, but I did learn about things relating to this WWII aircraft and the men that took part in making it function.

The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

Unique post apocalyptic
Revisado: 04-04-24
I really enjoy post apocalyptic stories. This one is unique and I really enjoyed it. It is not fast paced like a lot of the books written now for an impatient audience, but it did have action, and my favorite was that it was thought provoking. I do not watch tv, so I cannot compare it to the show.

Helped me with my daily journal writing
Revisado: 04-04-24
This book was enlightening and helpful. Great tips on building good habits. I did start getting a little bored towards the end as some of the tips later on seemed more theoretical than practical, but who knows, maybe I should be putting some of the more impractical ideas into practice.

Ninety-eight percent of scholarship applications end up in the trash because of a couple dozen common mistakes. And if that weren't bad enough, it turns out scholarship judges are just as tired, frazzled, cranky and prejudiced as the rest of us. If you actually think you're gonna win scholarship money, you'd better know EXACTLY the kind of stuff that guys like Judge Josh hate to see in a scholarship application.

Has helped me re-write my scholarship essays
Revisado: 04-04-24
It was very enjoyable to listen to the this book. The narrator was a bit dry but not annoying. I thought the book had some pretty good humor, a dry humor, which I guess worked well with the narrator. I did receive a lot of insight for best practices in presenting an essay for scholarship consideration. Half of the book was his thoughts and suggestions on essays, and the second half were example essays with his commentary.

Makes me feel normal
Revisado: 03-30-24
There are many situations which Esther brings up from many counseling sessions, and many of them are very relatable. It makes me feel normal. I think this book helps intimate relationships by understanding that things may not be going great but that may be normal, and then ideas on how to improve your relationship. I thought this was a great book for me to gain understanding, but I would not necessarily recommend it to my wife. I would rather bring up certain parts that I learned and are more relatable and not talk about the rest which may make her paranoid. For example, being attracted to another person, getting bored with the same person, fantasies, etc. Although, maybe it is me that would be paranoid by hearing her thoughts. Like Esther mentions, some things you just might keep to yourself.

Revisado: 03-30-24
I didn't agree with everything that she says, but that is one thing that I liked. I liked a different perspective. I would say that I agree with most everything. I don't really buy into a lot of her examples because they could be picked out to fit her narrative, but I did like that she did have examples to show you a "what if." It makes me enthusiastic in getting my financial situation in better order. I loved her narration, and I will probably listen to more of her books. I really enjoyed this. I would say this book relates more to income earners of more than $100k per year.

In the end, I found this book helpful
Revisado: 03-29-24
The author does seem to write about how great he and his decisions are, but I have to admit, some of that is definitely needed as I had no idea who he was so it is good to know he is very successful. But it does get a little annoying sometimes. But the information and his suggestions are very helpful for work and life. I like his decision to narrow down the most important things and focus on those.

From networking and building supportive relationships to crafting the perfect pitch and knowing when to finalize a deal - it can be a confusing and complex web. Opening a fundraising round is one of the most daunting moments in the lifecycle of a young startup. But even as tech insiders trade tips, too many first-time founders are left in the dark or sorting through conflicting advice.

Kind of shows an overview of the process
Revisado: 03-29-24
This book gave a brief overview of the process of connecting with an investor, meeting, and then seeing if they take interest. This book was not very helpful to me with the strategies of how to convince or speak to a potential investor.
