Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Good story, bad science
Revisado: 03-14-24
The story is good, interesting, and well written, and the performance is great. Unfortunately the overall impression suffers from the attempt at hard science fiction. There are lots of little hard science nuggets that break my immersion. Mitochondria don't work like that, peer-review don't work like that, Xenonite is pure magic, and other things. Most of the nuggets make sense, but the ones that don't spoil the effect.
I know it's not supposed to be a scientific publication and I would forgive the mistakes, if it wasn't that it tries so hard to be... hard.

Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Fun. Not art, very gory, but 100% fun.

Great storytelling, bad story
Revisado: 02-18-20
Great storytelling, great performance; unfortunately the story itself not the kind of story I enjoy. I'm more of a happy ending guy.

Historia
Welcome to the age of the algorithm, the story of a not-too-distant future where machines rule supreme, making important decisions - in health care, transport, finance, security, what we watch, where we go, even whom we send to prison. So how much should we rely on them? What kind of future do we want? Hannah Fry takes us on a tour of the good, the bad and the downright ugly of the algorithms that surround us.

Painfully shallow
Revisado: 04-08-19
Lots of interesting things are mentioned, but then moves on to the next interesting thing.
I would be interested in a non abridged version, but this one I can't recommend.

Awful
Revisado: 05-09-18
I don't like horror stories, and this is a horror story.
Boring beginning, boring middle, boring climax and depressing end.
I suppose if you like horror and stories where everyone dies, you might think differently but I expected a space adventure so...
